"Memories" Of A Liberal Democracy

The last few days, we have heard from the Angry left and the angry leftist media whining about despotic behaviour and a lack of democracy in our Federal Government over a delay of twenty two sitting days of parliament. Here are just two comparisons for me that put this latest fake scandal into perspective.

In keeping with President's Choice line of Products (PC)- A review is a great method Here is my review of two "memories" from the Liberal Democracy. Feel free to add your opinions!

Liberals Don't Like People, They Like Power and Money

Freedom of The Press Liberal Style

...Last Friday, CBC news executives released a letter sent to Peter Donolo, the prime minister's communciations director. In it, the CBC described Milewski as "an aggressive reporter developing a strong point of view on a major, controversial story." It said an internal investigation did not support Donolo's claim that Milewski had shown bias in his reporting. But at the same time the investigation did not support some of his journalistic methods..

RCMP slammed in APEC report

The RCMP bungled its handling of demonstrations at the 1997 APEC summit in Vancouver, according to the long-awaited report of the inquiry that looked into police actions there.
The report from inquiry commissioner Ted Hughes is critical of RCMP top brass, and also concludes that the government twice tried to interfere with police operations during the summit held on the campus of the University of British Columbia.
In his 453-page report, former judge Hughes found police actions in November 1997 "did not meet an acceptable and expected standard of competence and professionalism and proficiency.

Hughes concluded that many of those complaints were well-founded, that the pepper spraying was unnecessary, that the strip-searches of women were inappropriate, and that the way some protesters were dealt with was inconsistent with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Hughes did conclude that the Prime Minister's Office did interfere with security operations, but it was director of operations Jean Carle, not the prime minister, who was throwing his weight around.

Billions of EI diverted illegally from Canadians compliments of the Liberal Cabinet Payroll Tax.

Top court says Ottawa broke law in financing EI

The Supreme Court of Canada says that Ottawa illegally collected employment insurance contributions for three years under the former Liberal government.
The court, though, rejected union claims that Ottawa diverted money from deliberately-over-inflated EI surpluses to balance the federal budget and fund programs.
In a 7-0 decision, the court ruled EI premiums were inappropriately collected between 2002, 2003, and 2005. That's when the Liberal cabinet set EI rates directly without the authorization from Parliament and the employment insurance commission, a violation of the principle of no taxation without representation.
"This means that employment insurance premiums were collected unlawfully, without the necessary legislative authorization," Justice Louis LeBel wrote in the decision.
Canada's highest court ruled, however, that the federal government was within its rights to divert EI contributions to pay down the deficit from 1996-2001.

These are just two examples of our Pepper "loving" Prime Minister Jean Chretien handling of democracy.

Feel free to add your own "Memories" of A Liberal Democracy.
