NDP-Liberal leaders Failed To Defend Multiculturalism

Is it me but did the views by Gilles Duceppe referring to multiculturalism as threat to Quebec distinct society not merit more scrutiny from the Press? Did anyone notice the Jack and Mike response? Can you imagine if ANY conservative made those statements?

Is Terry M. covering PM flight to Geneva making him cranky?

Duceppe also tried to compare the foreign affairs record of our PM to George W. Bush. Our PM quickly took him to task and bragged about Canada's efforts in Haiti and Libya. Our PM reminded the pickering speakers  of the UN recognition and  Canada's appointment on the maternal health file.

Our PM gave the each of the leaders a reminder why voters have given Conservatives two mandates. They tried to suggest our foreign aid was cut back, Jack and Michael failed. Who will defend multiculturalism, minorities in Quebec from the Bloc and PQ? It does not appear the NDP or Liberals have the stomach to take their coalition partner to the woodshed for his comments.

Our PM was able to remind the unhappy participants that Canada is doing very well compared to other developed economies. They could not refute his comments. They could also not attack the experts and economists that raising taxes will cost $ 40 billion in investment and 200,000 jobs. This debate had  our PM laying out his message to voters why a majority is necessary. Ignatieff was clearly agitated by our PM asking for a majority to stop the bickering and give Canadians a break from the constant electioneering every two years. I believe our PM made his case by the lack of substance on display from the opposition leaders.

The three Amigos tried the fear card on the Long Gun registry, hidden agenda on abortion, capital punishment and healthcare. It fell flat. The track record is clear and the Conservative priorities and cooperation led the longest minority in Canadian history.

The last five years this Conservative government has been spending billions on requipping our military, restoring cuts to pensions, health, education and social services from the previous Liberal administration. This Conservative government did not attack the most vulnerable to balance their federal books. Ignatieff did not brag about the Chretien-Martin legacy about those tough decisions.

The NDP and Liberals supported the Bloc motion to require all Supreme Court judges pass tests in French. They also joined the Bloc in blocking the Bill on Democratic Reform to add seats to Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia in the 40th Parliament. Chantal Herbert noted this was the worst performance of Gilles Duceppe.

What else can we expect from Jack and Michael in appeasement of the Bloc?

The poll pegs Conservative support across the country at 45%, Liberal support at 24%, the NDP at 16%, Bloc support at 8% and Green Party support at 7%. Thankfully with numbers like these if they hold up for advance voting and May 2, 2011, Canadians won't need to rely on the NDP or Liberals to protect minorities in Quebec.

Lt.-Gen. Charles Bouchard of Canada will take over command of the NATO mission in Libya, Canadian Defence Minister Peter MacKay said Friday. International stage Canada is reclaiming robust role in defending people, the days of being a spectator is over. 

The coalition of Liberals, NDP and Separatists will create uncertainty and hurt our economy. A majority government led by our PM will continue to provide the leadership Canadians can trust. Let's get out and send a message to the tax and spend Liberals for this opportunistic election.

Liberal strategists are gambling that voters will be pleasantly surprised by Ignatieff once they start paying closer attention during the campaign.

"The more Canadians see of him, the more of a plus that will be," predicts Senator David Smith, national campaign co-chair. Why are Liberals asking taxpayers to spend $ 300 million to warm up to him?

The federal government moved Sunday to kick-start giving for Pakistan flood relief by offering to match private donations, dollar for dollar.

Donations for flood aid made between Aug. 2 and Sept. 12 will be matched by federal money with no upper limit, Government House leader John Baird said. 

Will our allies show the same level of compassion and aid to Pakistan?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be making his fifth visit to the Arctic region, since he took office in 2006 beginning Monday in Churchill, Man.

On Tuesday, Harper will head to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, then the following day to Resolute, where he will address troops there conducting Operation Nanook, an annual sovereignty exercise.

Wednesday afternoon, the prime minister will be in Inuvik, N.W.T.,  and from there, he will travel 120 km north to the hamlet of Tuktoyaktuk.

Harper is expected to make an announcement in Tuktoyaktuk, and there is some speculation it could be federal funding to complete an all-weather road linking the isolated community on the Beaufort Sea to Inuvik.

The North has never has never seen so much time, effort and attention brought to bear by any Prime Minister?

Angry, screeching Liberal in PEI fears for own seat for good reason. A Liberal MP that used a doorknob as a prop to attack Federal funds for upgrades and repairs last year in Prince Edward Island will have his work cut out for him this time.

The federal government will provide $12 million for a wind power project on Prince Edward Island, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced in North Cape, P.E.I., Friday.

The money will go toward a wind energy research and development park and storage system on the province's north coast.

It will study the production, operation, storage and installation of wind technology.

Harper said the energy produced at the site will meet up to three per cent of the province's electricity needs, which translates roughly as enough energy to fuel 4,000 households.

The Wind Energy Institute of Canada will use the money to build a nine- to 10-megawatt wind turbine cluster consisting of five turbines. It will also build an electricity storage system that will be the first of its kind in P.E.I.

Will P.E.I voters make the decision to join with the other Conservative voters in removing ineffective Liberal MPs?

Prime Minister Stephen Harper repeated Tuesday that the federal government wants the Hwy. 407 extension to connect with Hwy. 35/115.

"We look forward to further infrastructure investment in the GTA in co-operation with the great province of Ontario including, my friends, fulfilling that agreement we made in 2007 for them to build Hwy. 407 all the way east to Hwy. 35/115," he said in a speech in Ajax.- Peterborough Examiner

Will Ontario voters demand the Liberals keep their promise and deliver those jobs and complete the work by 2013?
