municipal transit through more federal gas tax transfers. Is Jack running for Mayor of Toronto or just playing divisive politics as usual in pandering for support to his base in large cities?
Jack what happens when your raise taxes on companies that have a near monopoly? Does Jack think raising taxes on banks, media, oil companies won't be passed along to the customer?
In Oakville I am told the no plastic bag policy passed by the City Toronto has been adopted by large stores outside its jurisdiction. Some of these stores have decided to make money by charging five cents per bag. Thanks Jack!
In Quebec, the province passed legislation requiring "winter tires" in Ontario we benefited through a spike in prices and thefts of tires.
"There is a chronic financing problem for public transit," Layton said.

Where does imagine this $400-500 million per year for Canadian transit systems comes from? (Big Banks, Big Oil, Big Bad Companies?)
Jack you spent a great deal of time lambasting the Liberals for not supporting the coalition in 2009. You admitted in December 2008 under your direction the NDP refused to read the budget or support ANY measure within the largest budget in Canadian history. Thanks Jack!
Only when the Liberals pulled the pin of stupid political stunts ,you softened your political rhetoric in parliament. The public polls illustrating overwhelming support against a Fall 2009 election or the projections showing many of the seats you gained would have been lost had no bearing in your decision to support the CPC government. On December 10, 2008 along with the Liberals you have voted to extend confidence of our PM in leading Canada.
Did you not spend months attacking the CPC and the Liberals for "raising" taxes via HST?
What has changed in your priorities over the Christmas Break that would risk an election if the CPC don't add billions to the deficit to fund mass transit projects for Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax?
We have seen Liberals spend months flip flopping on supporting, raising the H.S.T, G.S.T. The Liberals through a proxy funded by Bay Street banking millionaires have proposed a Carbon Tax at COP15.
Jack if you support raising the GST, Tobin Tax, Gas Transfer Tax who do you expect to bear the brunt?

The T.D. bank executive in Florida, the large companies like General Motors or the senior on a fixed pension trying to pay her heating bills in Northern Ontario?
Are the NDP for Carbon Credits for Big Companies and exemption for Fossil Fuel Companies that have large unions? Look at Germany they exempted their auto industry, or the US who will protect their Coal burning industry.
Jack are you for secret deals worth Billions that will drive up the hydro rates for those seniors who you spoke about regarding the HST and heating oil

A similar transit policy was instituted by the Liberal government of Prime Minister Paul Martin, but was discontinued under the Conservatives who permanently extended $2 billion a year in gas-tax money to municipalities, but for a wider range of infrastructure needs.
Pandering to tax funded unions, urban voters and their unintened consequences...
Jack do you have a problem with how duly elected officials in cities prioritize their own spending? Perhaps leaving national politics for a run in provincial or muncipal affairs would resolve those priorities for MASS funded public transit in the large urban centres.Best of luck in Toronto.
Some of us are voting for a Federal Parliament to focus on their responsibilities, eliminate wasteful spending, encourage more local accountability by reducing Big Government (Ottawa knows best) practices. Thanks Jack!
