Jean-Marc Founier Wins: 21.75% turnout

I enjoyed reading the headlines from CTV time to time. Liberals breeze to victory in Quebec.

Where is the concern for apathy and the democratic deficit when 78.25% of the eligible voters don't bother to cast a ballot for the Justice Minister in the Quebec provincial government? The provincial Liberals have held this riding since it was redrawn in 1966.

I remember the media citing experts in defense of the Lib-NDP-Bloc-Green coalition of 62% complaining how the Conservative victory was not a true reflection of the democratic intent of voters.

Can we expect the Canadian media to invite the same experts in characterizing the Liberal victory as weak?
