It was interesting listening to Jane Taber on Question Period raise the risk in his first test to the leadership of Michael Ignatieff in these by elections. Jane this was not his first test in by elections.

 

The Liberals lost all four elections in November 2009. Ignatieff and his MP's spent a great deal of time and energy trying to convert those ridings.

Ignatieff as 007 or double zero?

Michael Ignatieff has been the leader for nearly two years if he fails to convince the voters to show up in the three contests it will mean he has lost all seven contests.

Not sure how the MSM will spin this in a positive light but I am confident the Toronto Star, CBC and CTV will find something else to find newsworthy.

Jane, Interrupted

Jane Taber interrupted the female Conservative MP Candice Hoeppner guest four times? How many times did she interrupt,  inject a counter talking point against the Liberal or NDP guest, zero?

Your admission you're rudeness in a tribute to the Conservative Senator Nancy Ruth did not work for many reasons. Sorry Jane you have a track record as well.

Jane you failed in your duties towards having the appearance of being balanced or fair of your treatment in all the guests again.

Nancy Ruth has a track record as an advocate on women's issues.

This is not the first time a Conservative MP get interrupted or Jane's failure to manage her guests.

Fortunately this time the Liberal MP was not repeatedly interrupting the female conservative guest with opposition talking points.

This time, Jane Taber stepped up to play the role. Kudos again.

A quick Google search andthe Cultural Princess has enlisted in narrative of "hiding something" meme. Go ahead Janey keep asking CBC employees what they think of the current government.

Is Google not a research tool used by CTV?

Canadian Journalists for Free Expression was born in 1981, and parented initially by the Centre for Investigative Journalism (now the Canadian Association of Journalists).

Arnold Amber is a former executive producer at CBC, and the current Director of CWA-SCA Canada, the parent body of the Canadian Media Guild and 25 other smaller union locals that represent employees in the newspaper industry.

Alison is a regular contributor to CBC radio's, The Current and she has worked as a TV producer at CBC NEWS Sunday.

Would these people have anything potential conflicts with the Conservatives asking for an investigation into institutional bias at the CBC?
I could go and look for more potential bias or conflicts.......my head is spinning after only two minutes of using Google and looking for credibility issues.

His journalism experience included covering federal, provincial and international politics and public policy news and current affairs for programs such as Morningside and the National Radio News. In 2008, Daniel was recognized by the national political and government newsweekly, The Hill Times, as one of Canada's top 100 lobbyists. - Fasken Martineau. 

Daniel Brock was one of the three organizers who traveled  to the United States to recruit Michael Ignatieff. Does Daniel have a potential vested interest or conflict into dismissing the request for an investigation by CPC MP Dean Del Mastro through the Heritage committee into institutional bias?

Did Jane Taber downplay, omit by mistake Daniel's past working relationship with the CBC? Why is his past relationship with the CBC important? How did Daniel Brock frame the Conservative's request for accountability of the tax funded crown corporation public broadcaster?

Is this an example of bias, lazy journalism, I encourage readers to use Google when guests are invited or cited. How are the media framing the attempts by the Conservatives asking for investigations? Do journalists repeat the opposition narrative this is a "baseless fishing expedition and is used to raise funds" against the Conservatives? Do the same journalists apply the same tone, same phrases when describing the importance of accountability when opposition MP's demand numerous investigations for potential conflicts of interest?

Bourque Newswatch: Ekos Research Fallout Continues

The decision to suspend advertising polling results from Ekos Research is a bold move by Bourque Newswatch. The Montreal Gazette has also come out swinging  against the hypocrisy of the CBC.

A public debate is needed. Private and Public broadcasters are different, Canadians deserve to have all political idealogies presented in a fair and unbiased manner. Are media outlets beyond investigation on ensuring bias?  Should our tax funded broadcaster recieve funds for promoting one idealogical political viewpoint unfairly?

If The Hour is a tax funded current affairs program with an idealogical left of centre bias? Is this the mandate of the public broadcaster responsible to have an hour for the Right of Centre?

How many hours of on Global Warming with left of centre political vs skeptics? Anyone see Tim Ball interviewed by the CBC? How much time CBC spend any time in examining Climategate or leaked emails for potential conflicts?

How much time on Helena Guergis, how much did it cost for the flight and production of the interview of the private detective?

How much money was spent in pleading for the "single" mother trapped, airport arrival? Is she married, does she have a sister six inches taller? She has a lawsuit for $ 2.5 million, what is the status?

Immigration Watch has a different set of facts that never been aired to correct the record of a 'racist' government alleged for weeks on the CBC compliments of the MP's in opposition.

Conservative MP Bev Shipley raised concerns in parliament about Ekos Research Frank Graves. Conservative Party President has requested an investigation into potential conflicts and institutional bias. Dean Del Mastro, the Tory MP from Peterborough and parliamentary secretary to the Heritage Minister, put forward a motion to the Commons Heritage committee for a probe into the CBC and its relationship with EKOS pollster Frank Graves.

Ekos Research president Frank Graves, the pollster used regularly by the CBC, is also a close advisor to the Liberal Party of Canada. This appears to violate a CBC policy but we're a little more concerned, frankly, with the advice Graves is giving the Liberals. Montreal Gazette

How does Jane Taber frame the Government MP's requesting an investigation into conflicts or institutional bias from a Liberal Pollster?

None of this matters. The Tories are training their guns on the CBC and Mr. Graves appears to be their first victim.

Indeed, a political observer says Mr. Graves is being used as “cannon fodder on their attempt to extinguish the hated CBC. … So much for free speech.”

It appears to be a pattern with some in the media to invoke guns and bullying with the CPC. Does she hold the opposition MP's to the same standard on the Helena Guergis file?

Did Jane Taber refer to Justin Trudeau as a "cultural warrior" for his bullying of Shelly Glover?

Mr. Trudeau, a rookie Liberal Montreal MP, was full of vim and vigour yesterday during an appearance on CTV’s - Jane Taber defends Liberal MP's behaviour  as "exuberance".

Update:

Apparently Jane Taber is concerned an investigation into examining media bias of the CBC. She needs to frame a request for an investigation by Conservative MP's at the Heritage Committee.

Jane adopts several of the Liberal Party talking points quite early in her hit piece and reminds her readers of the main Tory, his relationships responsible for stirring this up.

Ironically, the main Tory behind the anti-CBC campaign is Doug Finley, who himself is in the taxpayer-trough given he receives a Senate salary and all the perks that go with it and his wife, Diane Finley, is a senior cabinet minister.

Mr. Graves set off the Tories with his recent assertions that the Liberals should launch a “culture war” in order to emphasize the differences between the two main parties.

"Tories" are perhaps a little too sensitive for being called a "haven for bigots" by a pollster  funded by the national broadcaster CBC on a weekly basis?

Where does Jane Taber want the Tories to raise their "anti-CBC campaign" if not the Heritage Committee in looking for conflicts or institutional bias?

Jane, the CBC did not inform Canadians of the relationship or potential bias of Frank Graves and the Liberal Party. Next time might it might be faster to just copy and paste the complete letter from the Liberal Party War room without your editorial.

Liberal MP David McGuinty, not known for understatement, declared: "We believe this is probably the most massive propaganda effort of any kind seen at the federal government level in Canadian history."
His memory is either short or selective. There was something called the sponsorship scandal, that grew out of the Liberal government's effort to show the Canadian flag in Quebec after the near-death experience of the 1995 referendum.
Another Liberal MP, Wayne Easter, held up a door knob to  illustrate routine maintenance, as opposed to new infrastructure dollars, on a federal building in Prince Edward Island. He should be careful about having his picture taken with a doorknob--it invites comparisons.

On a day when the Liberals could have loaded the bases, they never even got to first.

Cheque scandal just partisan smoke

That such subjective analysis can pass for serious journalism is a testament to the 24/7/365 multi-media news model that favours headline grabbing content without context over the most basic research necessary to pass a high school civics course.

Yes, a few Tories took a justifiable hit for party logos on photo-op cheques last week. It was wrong, period. It serves as a reminder to elected officials at all levels: It is not your constituency, it is the constituency that you represent. And it’s never mythical government money, it’s taxpayers’ money (often from future generations via deficits) that is being spent.

But to assert that a cabal of government ministers and senior officials is doling out federal funds by riding name and postal code is ludicrous. What’s next: Elvis to the Senate?

The CPC increased the gap in Ontario.The Liberals are dropping in Quebec and British Columbia.The Liberals are continuing to lose support EVERYWHERE while the NDP have gained except the Prairies.

EKOS Seat Projection

In terms of regional strength, the Conservatives would be able to claim that they were a national
party, representing every region with a significant number of seats, including Quebec, where we
estimate they would hold 10 seats.

The Liberals, in contrast, would hold just 10 seats west of Ontario, almost all of them in British
Columbia. They would trail the Conservatives in every region in the country except Quebec,
where, despite having similar popular support to the Conservatives, they would win a few more

Speaking at an Ottawa daycare centre, Ignatieff said he wouldn't support the Conservatives on confidence motions, but added that he won't actively pursue attempts to bring them down.

Liberals will not cooperate and will trigger an election on confidence votes. Liberal Senators stop blocking some legislation that was supported unamiously in the HOC.
