Liberals Fall Down And Can't Get UP?

The Lib blogs have been very quiet lately.  The Liberal Express has had a few bumps. Content or adult conversation has been a rare commodity from both. Since losing power in 2006 it appears they have fallen down and can't get up.

Early warning signs in 2009 that a content was NOT a priority.

• Both spent weeks on Wafers
• Both were consumed with a G20 photo
• Both tried to create a controversy with the Olympic Committee, Torch Relay, Clothes
• Both decried the H1N1 response, contracts to have it backfire with a staged interview on the CBC, apology for the 10% from the Liberal Party sent to a reserves and discovery the sole supplier was a large donor to the Liberal Party. A local nurse ordered extra bags. Some local health boards did a good job some did not.
• Both chased the Economic Action Plan and Deficit without offering an adult conversation/alternative demanding only Report Cards in 2009
• 30 Liberal MPs missing key votes on a regular basis after a promise to NOT sit on our hands by Ignatieff.

Canadians have voted for political parties for a large number of reasons. It appears the Liberals have still not learned humility with the 2006 and 2008 results. It may be too late for the remaining party faithful.

OBAMA To BP: "Somebody Going to Get A Hurt Real Bad"

Russel Peters has a great clip on what Obama must be thinking about the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico."I will not tolerate more finger pointing or irresponsibility," he said after meeting with top advisors to discuss the growing oil spill, which British Petroleum has tried and failed for three weeks to stem or even slow.

Experts now fear oil may be spewing from the site at a rate of 70,000 barrels (2.9 million gallons) a day, more than 10 times faster than a Coast Guard estimate of 5,000 barrels (210,000 gallons) a day. I had earlier posted about how many days the U.S. had to avert the worst disaster in history here.(Rough estimate of lost revenue $ 5.6 million per day $80/pbl) Those predictions of containing this spill may be too conservative.

Voters will have an opportunity to select their proxy by electing a local MP, but ultimately our Politics has morphed into Politics of Leadership. What leader has a clear lead, what leader has dominates on the most important issues?

If Canadians are asked to cast a ballot on who they trust with the Jobs/Economy as the most important issue in 2010 another "teaching moment" may be necessary. The last time the Liberals threatened an election the gap went from five points to double digits for one month. Have the Liberals learned their lesson to NOT pre-announce their intentions to seek a mandate?

Is Michael Ignatieff a liability for the Liberals winning in 2010?

Since returning to Canada a few years ago, Ignatieff has done everything in his power to curry favour with Canadians. He had been lured back to Canada after decades of being away by a cabal of Liberals, who thought that he could be the next Trudeau and give the Liberal Party a much-needed booster shot. -Werner Patels

On leadership the Liberal leader has been in the job for one year and has now fallen behind Jack Layton recently. Dion did not post leadership scores this low in his tenure at the head of the Liberals. Dion managed to hold the environmental issue and unity. Have voters written off Michael Ignatieff for failing in Trust, Competence and Vision? Do apologists for the Liberal Party believe, a six week campaign will rehabilitate his third place scores?
