Baird Won't Lie Down

“We can reduce emissions by closing down a steel mill in Canada but if we’re just buying the steel from a company in China, what do you say to the steel worker in Canada?” -John Baird

Canadians rejected the Liberal platforms and policies that included the Green Shift in 2008. The policies of the NDP as a credible alternative to the Conservative minority policies that were in effect for two years were rejected by over eighty per cent of voters. In seven by election contests since the two general elections, voters have sent five more Conservatives back to Ottawa  in by elections which equals a seventy-one per cent rate of success in an increased mandate. The voters have only sent one Liberal and one Democrat. It appears the opposition are not capable of respecting the democratic will of Canadians in giving a mandate. The changes in 2004, 2006 political party finances and delays in Democratic reform will continue to shape the make up of parliament.

PM Stephen Harper and Laureen Harper
I don't know of any other democratic government in the OECD that has been as successful, first elected in 2006  than in a larger number in 2008. The world has shifted right as confidence in the illusion of benefits in redistribution policies are bankrupting the nations in Europe and United States. The opposition appear to be divided on how to win back power. The removal of confidence with the threat of a general election, the default position in a minority parliament has NEVER been carried out by the coalition parties in the left. Why are they unwilling to use the option they used in 2004 against the Liberal PM Paul Martin in his 2nd year of his mandate?

If the opposition is unhappy and critical of this government's policies why not "fire them" and quit the bellyaching?

Our Federal Government has been clear we will do our part, and the largest emitters of Green house gases must step up to the plate and share in the costs. Our media with  help from special interest groups have no interest in holding the opposition parties to account for their misleading statements on the significance of Canada in the discussion of  a redistribution of wealth from developed nations. The opposition parties don't have support in many parts of Canada to shut down the industry and jobs. In 2009 Liberals and NDP demanded billions for GM and Chrysler  while the BLOC demanded billions for their forestry sector. If Canada accounts for only two per cent and the developing countries continue to grow their emissions how does it change the CAGW scenarios?

The largest emitters United States, China, India, Brazil must agree to verifiable third party audits and reductions or the calls for Canada reducing its emissions will be negligible. Our contribution to green house gases is too small.
2008

Copenhagen was not a political breakdown. It was an intellectual breakdown so astonishing that future generations will marvel at our blind credulity. Copenhagen was a classic case of the emperor with no clothes.
Canada is an export nation with substantial reserves in Oil.
It does not make sense to target the industry in Alberta and allow the industry in Ontario to go untouched for their contribution to greenhouse emissions. Anyone hear from the NDP, Liberals or Bloc on the need to shutdown the mining, forestry, manufacturing activity in Ontario or Quebec? Did Toronto or Montreal pass a by law banning the automobile?

In a speech in London, he referred to Canada as an “emerging energy superpower” and backed his claim with a cluster of statistics that were to become a feature of his foreign speeches: “We are currently the fifth-largest energy producer in the world. We rank third and seventh in global gas and oil production respectively. We generate more hydro-electric power than any other country on Earth. And we are the world's largest supplier of uranium.-PM Stephen Harper
A left leaning piece worth reading.
Before they were sucked into the giant vortex of global warming, environmentalists did useful things. They protested against massive Third World dams that would ruin both natural and human habitats. They warned about invasive species and diseases that could tear through our forests and wreck our water systems. They fought for national parks and greenbelts and protected areas. They talked about the big things too – such as how the world could feed another three billion people without destroying all the rain forests and running out of water. They believed in conservation – conserving this beautiful planet of ours from the worst of human despoliation – rather than false claims to scientific certainty about the future, unenforceable treaties and radical utopian social reform.   - Margaret Wente

The majority of us that are in favour of conservation, charging polluters for their violations, more efficiency. We have not jumped on board for the crazy train of wealth redistribution as the correct solution. We did not take that leap of faith in giving large energy companies guaranteed profits for generations. We did not sign up for transferring billions to the worlds poorest nations led by dictators and despots.

Why are the opposition parties taking turns voting in favour of policies of this Government from Jets to Afghanistan?

New Zealand Government Abandons ‘Official’ Climate Record

The NZCSC story reports that the NZ authorities, “formally stated that, in their opinion, they are not required to use the best available information nor to apply the best scientific practices and techniques available at any given time. They don’t think that forms any part of their statutory obligation to pursue “excellence.”
NIWA now denies there was any such thing as an “official” NZ Temperature Record, although there was an official acronym for it (NZTR). However, the position now taken by the NZ government is that all such records are now to be deemed as unofficial and strictly for internal research purposes.

Kiwis have a great record on telling wonderful stories. I enjoy watching my DVD LOTR movies.

Global Eco-Nuts: What could go wrong with Big Government?

WARNING: GRAPHIC AND DISTURBING IMAGES
A satirical promotional video for the 10:10 initiative shows global warming skeptics being brutally killed at the push of a button. The sponsors have subsequently apologized and removed the video. See it here while you still can.
From the 1010uk website: "With climate change becoming increasingly threatening, and decreasingly talked about in the media, we wanted to find a way to bring this critical issue back into the headlines whilst making people laugh.
We were therefore delighted when Britain's leading comedy writer, Richard Curtis - writer of Blackadder, Four Weddings, Notting Hill and many others – agreed to write a short film for the 10:10 campaign. Many people found the resulting film extremely funny, but unfortunately some didn't and we sincerely apologise to anybody we have offended. As a result of these concerns we've taken it off our website. We won't be making any attempt to censor or remove other versions currently in circulation on the internet."

Can we have the names of those focus group members that tested and found this funny? Can we get a Registry set up for  Econ-nuts for public safety?

I am confident the opposition in Canada have no problem with a two billion dollar project.

Global Warming: Who will fund a study on snowblowers sales?

Remember this:

The David Suzuki Foundation says global warming and climate change are in part responsible for what's happening to a key Olympic venue.- CBC
Will shareholders be hearing global warming and climate change is responsible for missing sales this quarter?
"One of the categories that dropped was seasonal and outdoor goods, and I think that's a function of the weather," he said. "We had a very balmy winter across Canada so people weren't spending the money on snowblowers and shovels. Also, the [Home Renovation Tax Credit] is over so our home renovation spending dropped again...because people aren't spending to get the credit." -Vision Critical
For many of us not buying new winter tires, a new Snowblower, annual visit to the doctor for a strained back in shoveling this winter was a nice respite.

Why Are The Angry Left Undemocratic?

If you spend anytime reading or watching the speeches from the 'Angry left' a disturbing pattern develops that is dangerous to our freedom and our privileges that we as Canadians have taken for granted. Our system depends on people who share our values of our institutions and respect the limits of their office.

We are witness to leaders, politicians who are not interested in the results of general elections. Who will benefit from the transfer of billions of taxpayers dollars to despots, dictators and undemocratic governments?

Something to think about regarding Copenhagen.. Canada is one of the "good" guys

Some in the Angry Left are blindly following the left leaning CBC-The National as their gospel. This is the same battle in the U.S. of Fox News versus other liberal media news programs.

In 2010 we will see the three political parties enabled by our TMZ style media pundits again paint our democratically elected government as despotic, dictatorial and corrupt. The CBC can't save the Liberal Party of Canada, the viewers have tuned out CBC News.

Why did the Prime Minister chose CTV this year to give his Christmas address?

Faith vs Facts Part One

The angry left believe in the transfer of billions to solve Global Warming and The CBC News, The National has viturally ignored the controvery of Climategate regardless of the truth. Where is the balance on reporting both sides?

The CBC top shows are Hockey Night in Canada, Christmas Specials from the 70's and American Shows Jeopardy and The Wheel of Fortune. Is this a good use of our taxpayers dollars?

The CTV News is the most widely watched News by Canadians. The CBC News does not break the top 30!

Faith vs Fact Part Two

The Accord has been signed by all three political parties and leaders may change their mind again.

Dec 2008: Ignatieff echoed his words, saying the coalition deal is economically responsible, preserves Liberal ideals and upholds Dion as party leader until May.
"We are at one, the three of us, that the only person who can lead the party is the duly elected leader of the party Mr. Stephane Dion," Ignatieff said.

I could have been the Prime Minister today but I turned it down.-Michael Ignatieff

Really?
Our recovery being ignored by our angry left.
Companies have raised a record amount of money on the Toronto Stock Exchange this year, the latest sign of how strongly markets have rebounded from the global financial crisis.

Will Gilles Duceppe stick around if the Throne Speech and March 2009 Budget finds ten supporters? Will the Bloc allow a weakened Michael Ignatieff to lead the Coalition in 2010? The Bloc supported a humilated Dion as Prime Minister six weeks after the General elections in 2008. The Bloc are not interested in a strong united Canada. They are interested in Quebec's independence, pretending the separtists are anything else is dishonest. If the Bloc can enter into an agreement to weaken the Federation again, without hesistation they will. What is the legacy for Gilles Duceppe who entered politics in 1990? Who will replace Gilles if he loses more seats to the CPC in Quebec as they did in the November by-elections?

The NDP have recovered from their historic lows in the 2000 General Election 8.5% to stabilize around their historical base of 16-19%. Many believe they would do any deal if it mean more power and prestige. What legacy will Jack Layton leave behind if the Coalition does not take over the Parliament in 2010? Jack had no problem supporting the Martin Liberals on his budget. Jack had no problem in supporting Dion six weeks after a General Election that saw the Liberals lose 19 seats and reach a historic low of 26.3% for six spots in the Cabinet. The NDP platform was put on hold for 18 months as per the ACCORD.

Will he stick around? Will Bob Rae and his supporters allow the current leader to keep his job?

Did Michael Ignatieff use up his fifteen minutes of fame?

The Liberals will lose their Senate Majority and control of the committee's as a result of a prorogue delaying the opening of the business of government by 28 sitting days.

This has sparked the angry left in calling our democratically elected government a dictator, undemocratic and a despot.

May 10, 2009 In Montreal on Sunday to promote his most recent book, the federal Liberal leader also said the coalition came at a time when the party's right to govern would have been called into question after one of the worst election results in its history. His judgement and support regarding the coalition (political arrangements FR).

When did he write this book?  Priorities?

When will the Angry left return to a balanced democratic value system instead of a lust for power and their political agenda?
