43% Ispos-Reid Poll: Conservative Majority?

Canadians don't believe the manufactured scandals?
The Liberal-NDP-Bloc-MSM attacks on the Federal Government is failing miserably if you were to accept the latest polling results from Ispos-Reid. The month of February according to the pollsters (minus an Ekos outlier that invoked Bev Oda?) points to a significant shift for the Conservatives.

In every region but Quebec, the Tories are leading in public opinion.
In Ontario, the Tories stand at 45%, compared to 33% for the Liberals, 14% for the NDP, and 4% for the Green party.
In Quebec, the Bloc is supported by 41% of decided voters, with the Liberals at 27%, the Tories at 19%, the NDP at 6%, and the Green party at 4%.
In B.C., the Tories have 48% of the vote, compared to 22% for the NDP, 21% for the Liberals and 8% for the Green party.
In Alberta, the Tories stand at 68% support, while the Liberals have 17%, the NDP have 10% and the Green party has 4%.
In Saskatchewan/Manitoba, the Tories are ahead at 59%, while the Liberals and NDP both have 17% and the Green party has 7%.
In the Atlantic region, the Tories are at 52%, followed by the Liberals at 33%, the NDP at 12% and the Green party at 4%.

The Liberals, NDP, Green support level are at the general election results from October 14, 2008 or worse. Why would they risk a general election and permit the Bloc to gain  in Quebec?

Are voters rewarding the Conservatives for their track record? Are voters punishing the opposition parties for their failures to make parliament work and wait until 2012? Are those contacted in these polls not buying the fake scandal and personal attacks from the media outlets? Are Canadians too busy with the real issues that affect them?

Price at the pumps if oil stays at $ 100 will affect our economy as we are an export nation. Provincial and local issues may be more pressing than worrying about than the return of Omar Khadr or prisoner comforts in Afghanistan.

Most pollsters have noted the manufactured scandals being pushed as news has not lifted the opposition parties as the staying power for outrage has a shelf life. |Can the MSM keep up pressure and free publicity on behalf of the opposition parties?

I suspect most of us don't have the golden parachute of the Federal politicians or the perks of the public unions that seem to be the focus for the opposition. It is a shame when they claim to represent the family and middle class values, what they actually mean is their own little collective of special interests groups that make up their core support. We are witnessing the Democrats rush to the aid of large public unions to protect their donor base in the United States.

Our media is asleep or choosing to not investigate the costs to taxpayers for unfunded pensions and benefits.

The Mayor Rob Ford was elected by 47% to bring some sanity back to City Hall. He is more popular than ever as the latest poll shows him at 60%. Tackling the Unions and getting the costs under control will be his major test in the upcoming budget. Nearly $ 800 million in savings will have to be found. Article is here.

Some in the political left will argue and try to shut down the progress to balance our books. They are the minority.

We have seen the same in Canada as public unions have rallied around the opposition parties. Large parts of the media is failing to report the influence of the public unions in the fundraising, protests produced for television in Canada and the United States. The MSM had no problem promoting a hidden agenda by Christians participating in the public square in 2010, when will the media provide a balanced report of lobbying by the public unions?

Ignatieff Clear As Mud

Ignatieff said he finds all the current talk of coalitions "disrespectful of the voter," implying that Liberals are looking for a short cut back to power. (Translation we are not prepared to discuss the details publicly, stop calling here!)
An Alliance between Democrats, Separatists is a marriage of convenience for the Liberals. If and when the Liberals recover from a weak balance sheet, voter support they will discard their allies.
...non-aggression deals are a betrayal of grassroots activists, many of whom have slaved for decades to promote their respective parties. (Unless it allows you to form government, than it is acceptable betray your grassroots again. The Liberals are entitled to power, ballot totals should not be an obstacle.)
The leader of each of these political parties is represent a small group with a different agenda. Under the existing rules the Liberals are no longer able to win in a democratic contest against the Conservatives.

The impatience of regaining national support at the ballot for has made for some frequent changes of leadership with the Liberal Party since John Turner. The Liberals were returned to power in the 1990's compliments of the West rejecting the Progressive Conservative Party of Brian Mulroney. Voters in Ontario kept the Liberals in power until an alternative was made available in 2006. It appears the strategists running the Liberal Party are not interested in remaining out from power. They refused to accept Canadians rejected them in 2006 and 2008. The Liberals strategy is to keep their promises hidden until the writ is dropped. As soon as the campaign begins they will start blowing smoke over the next thrity six days why they should be trusted and returned to power.

The Liberals only won popular support in one region, Atlantic Canada in 2008 and signed a deal to share power for nearly two years with the Separatists, Democrats. Western Canada would have been decimated at the hands of the Liberal-Democrat coalition. From Quebec-British Columbia the Liberals failed to win popular support.

For the Liberals it has never been about principles or a belief in a united country, but it has been about the survival of their party and a return to power. It took place over conscription, when many Liberals resigned outside Quebec.

The courage and conviction did not materialize in 2008, every Liberal MP stood shoulder to shoulder with the Democrats and Separatists in the attempted coup.

In 2010-2011, each leader will promise a 'new deal' with goodies without a rationale on how to realistically pay for it. In our system we don't have run offs, or modified systems as they do in Europe that includes proportional representation. The Liberals were not interested in making any changes until they found the current system is no longer working in their favour.

Canadians are accustomed to marking a single ballot and holding the governing party to their promises made during the campaign and their platform.

The coalition will not campaign and disclose the details of their platform. The Liberals, Democrats, Separatists will again deny the existence of their agreement until after their loss.

After the ballots are counted each party will collect their political welfare of $ 2.00 per vote to fill their party coffers and proceed to remove the most popular party from power again.

The advantage for the coalition is they get to spend more money and dominate the time during televised debates.

In Western Canada over 50% of popular vote chose the Conservatives in 2008. The Conservates also won the popular support in Ontario and beat the Liberals by five per cent.

The three coalition leaders have worked well together in 2008 to protect their political party welfare and blocking new seats to Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia in rebalancing Parliament in 2010.

The coalition architects have ceded power for the support of the separatists after the election. They have not ruled out again cooperation in pooling their MPs to vote non-confidence weeks after an election to steal power again.

The media has spent a great deal of money distorting the history of coalition governments and the use of prorogue as used in Canada.

What will this Triumvirate look like and why is the media refusing to expose the hidden agenda of these three parties?

I don't remember a time when Canadian political parties were so desperate to undermine the mandate at the ballot by the people.

Parliament: Rewriting History Canadian Media on Hiatus

Perception vs Reality
Our media is failing to dig for substance, they have become part of the larger problem. How many stories on the Prime Minister arriving late for a photo? Anyone see a Canadian media outlet challenge the opposition party on the facts and fairy tales in Question Period?
The purpose of Question Period is to ask the Government questions about issues that are important, topical and to hold the government to account for decision taken or not taken. Is the Canadian media covering the events in Question Period in a neutral fashion or do they have their own agenda?
We have forty-nine Separatists demand their voice be heard. These Separatists demand Canada respect their demands of allowing Quebec to secede by playing the victim card. These forty-nine separatist ignore the results of two referendums. The Separatists earned 65% of the seats  in 2008 with only 38.1% the popular support in Quebec. The Separatists have no problem in demanding their minority voice represents the majority interest in retaining an imbalance of seats in the federal parliament. The Separatists have no difficulty in demanding the majority of Canadians stop progress, plans to adopt a national regulator or balance their books if it impacts on their interests. These Separatists have NEVER won the support of the majority in Quebec voters but they regularly stand up and accuse the federalist Members of Parliament in Quebec as voting against the best interest of Quebec. How does our Canadian media refer to the 38% popular vote in Quebec for the Separatists? Can you find an analysis of these riding and Bloc support? Where do the Separatists have the most of their support and seats? The Bloc with 87% are the most dependent on the political party subsidy welfare from the taxpayer compliments of the Chretien Liberal majority. The Liberals are next in reliance of the welfare from taxpayers.
Quebec is the largest beneficiary of the Federalist welfare. The majority of the federal government welfare has been on backs Ontario and Alberta. If you are paying the bills to keep the lights on in Quebec, are you not entitled to make the decision? The Separatists don't think so, they believe they are entitled to more money and powers. The population of Quebec is not growing as fast as Ontario, Alberta or British Columbia. Instead of allowing the other provinces to add seats the Separatists have chosen to play the victim. Quebec has been a taken the lion-share of equalization payments since the program was developed.
  • In November 2008 the Lib-Dem formed a coalition signed the Accord. It agreed to give these Separatists a veto, balance of power during the worst global recession as the total number of Lib-Dem MPs were not greater than the six week old government. The deal was to last until June 2011.
  • Brian Topp author, ex-NDP strategist explained how this secret deal was in place months ago and was not the same as alleged by coalition leaders.
  • Brian Topp has not been sued by the opposition leaders to correct his statements on the details.
  • Anyone from the media inquire with this revelation the secret deal was in place months before the election?
The NDP earn more votes than the Separatists but send less MPs to parliament. The NDP have agreed with the Separatists giving Quebec an unfair representation against Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia. The Democrats hold one seat, they have never been a credible force in Quebec. The Democrats are the closest in ideology with the separatists on social issues. The Democrats regularly vote against expanding global free trade, combat missions. They look to the Robin Hood School of economics theory.  The NDP seem to get alot of support from Public Unions. These Unions will be asked to make some freeze or reduce their entitlements in dealing with the deficit. Can you guess how much energy the NDP will expend in defending these Public Unions?
The Liberals have had the biggest hill to climb in regaining credibility since their loss of power under Martin in 2006. They have failed to make significant inroads with the grassroots to open their wallets, key demographics, winning support outside their pockets in three of the largest cities. In 2008 the Liberal support in Ontario retreated again. This was a historic low that was not seen since confederation. The problems of the Liberal Party , fall from grace as the natural governing party has many theories. The Big Tent Party are polling 1-3% above their historic 2008 collapse. Is this the new normal?

  • RCMP investigation on Income Trusts
  • Financial Strength, Organization discipline

  • Roman Catholic, Female, Visible minorities, Rural voters
It is not difficult to understand the lack of success from the official opposition Liberals since losing power in 2006. The executive rejected the risk of the grassroots upsetting their an appointment of a leader who was defeated by Dion. The current leader did not win a democratic race in his own riding. Ignatieff was parachuted into a safe Liberal seat, his opportunism pushed the female Liberal MP out. They have not chosen to listen, represent the interest of regular voters. They have chosen along with the fringe parties to play political games with a cultural war in pitting region against region.
The world is moving ahead, Spanish PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero announced a 5% cut to public sector salaries, as well as reductions to pensions and regional government funding.-BBC News
Have the opposition parties united behind opening their expenses to the public? Have they participated in calls for restraint in growth of government programs?
Stockwell Day has been put in charge to find savings in every department including Parliament. Are the opposition parties interested in following the example of other governments?
Treasury Board President Stockwell Day announced Monday that Industry Canada and regional development agencies for Atlantic Canada, Quebec and the West will be among 13 departments required to shave 5 per cent from their budgets this year. -G&M
Will the opposition continue to frame these re-balancing of priorities as radical, ideological as part of the cultural war narrative? What part is the Canadian media playing?

Birkenstockers Are In Panic Mode

 Anyone seen Bob lately?

Some pundits are now salivating for a spring election in April 2010. Ekos, Nanos, Angus, Harris Decima Polls are hinting at a Blue Wave Part II? Some of the birkenstockers on Lib blogs like to post empty rhetoric but can't find the courage in getting their party to pull the plug. The Liberals led by Ignatieff are looking to repeat the Martin, Dion tradition.

My Prediction if we go in Spring 2010 LPOC will be reduced to 50-68 seats with 24-25% P.O.P.

The 'Angry' Left are not united in voting non-confidence against the  government. The Coalition parties have lost the control of Senate. They would rather play political games, destabilize our federation without seeking the consent of the voters. It must be a coincidence the investigation into corruption in Quebec over the awarding of municipal contracts is being ignored by the Liberal government in Quebec. Where is the outrage for a public inquiry into the Billions lost in the Quebec Pension Plan's risky investments, the intent to create a monopoly of energy exports in Eastern Canada by the same provincial government?

A delay in 28 sitting days by the Federal Government is dictatorial, despotic and without precedent? The hypocrisy of the some in the media and blogosphere is routine.

Great links on  a critique of our socialist media and the coalition parties they support.

This is for the Birkenstockers, angry leftists who refuse to ask the voters for support.

Liberals: Voters Are Just Not Into You.

The demise and downward trend has been since 2001. General Election Results ONLY. Perhaps the Liberal fortunes are tied to the Global Warming Scheme Kyoto to implement a Cap & Trade Wealth Transfer agreement, Carbon Tax Agenda by socialists.

Martin, Dion, and Michael Ignatieff all have followed the trend of weakening the Liberal Brand outside Toronto. Both Harper and Layton increased their numbers of seats since becoming leaders of their party.

The Liberals mishandled many key issues: the Nuclear Industry, Isotopes (Maple Reactors), Detainee Policy, EI Surplus and Social Contract (Equalization Transfers) when they took office. Canadian voters continue to abandon the Liberal Party for other political parties.

The thirteen dark years of Liberals ended in 2006, a new period with a right of centre party firmly in control.

If the Polls continue reflect a five-ten point support for the CPC led government, the coalition will be punished by the public again.

Political Landscape Sea Change: Premiers have picked their "Winner" for 2010

"For the many Canadians who doubt that Stephen Harper has the potential to bring about trans-formative change to the country's fabric, it should be required reading." - Chantal Herbert Toronto Star November 16, 2009 The Good Bad and Ugly (on the New Citizenship Guide)

Background

In 1993 some predicted Kim Campbell would lead the PC party to victory and the Liberals under Jean Chretien would fail. Many of us for various reasons left their traditional bases and voted for the Liberals or stayed home.

Many in Western Canada and rural ridings refused to continue to support the PC party and created their own political movement to take power back from Ottawa.

The result from 1993-2000 the Liberal Party was able to benefit and exploit the problems in the opposition parties to their political advantage. In 2000 the signs of dominance for the Liberal Party started a series of events beyond their control or understanding.

2006-2009

The sea change has already taken place, many from the opposition can't comprehend that reality. They will keep moving chess pieces and pretend they are still in the game. The next federal election will be just another reminder for some stuck in the 1990's during the Liberal's decade of power.

The By-elections on November 9, 2009 was a tactical display that showed whose party had a REAL ground game and was effective in getting their BASE to show up. The Liberals lost ground two riding in Quebec and BC. The only riding they saw an uptick in support was the riding held by Bill Casey. Some will like to blame Denis Coderre, but those two ridings in Quebec were both Bloc seats and the NDP and the CPC both made gains as the alternative.  The "fairytale" spun by friends of the Liberals becoming the federal alternative outside their island is now officially DEAD.

Reality Check:
Ontario
The currentl Liberal Premier and the PM are working closely on helping Ontario through this global economic recession. Manufacturing in Ontario was hit as exports to the US fell dramatically.

The introduction of the HST, reductions in Corporate and Business Tax by the Provincial Liberals appear to be inline with the Federal Government of creating an improved investment conditions for outside investment.

The single regulator, additional 23 seats in the HOC, focused regional investments appears to have helped the Provincial Liberals in choosing the current government led by PM Stephen Harper.

It is realistic to imagine with a good campaign and ground game a pick up of 10-20 more seats in Ontario.

Reality Check:
Quebec

Jean Charest a Liberal Premier has been vocal and supportive of EAP, unhappy about the single regulator, will be unhappy about QC losing to Ontario

Stephen Harper now has two huge assets in Quebec: He made peace with the Mulroney clan, and he restored good relations with Premier Jean Charest's Liberals (who worked for Mr. Généreux, a Liberal himself).- Lysianne Gagnon Liberals' faint hope is that Tories slip. Globe & Mail November 13, 2009.

It is realistic to imagine with a good campaign and ground game of a pick up of 2-6  rural seats in Quebec. (Charest/Mulroney giving permission for their political machine help again)

Reality Check:
Newfoundland

Danny Williams has realized his ABC strategy of  had consequences. Why did the Federal Liberal MP's and NDP MP's fail to secure funding and projects for NFLD?

“If the Prime Minister reached out,” Williams told The Globe and Mail, “we would accept any kind of an olive branch.”
The feisty Premier is, however, still simmering over federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's stimulus budget. “While he was stimulating every other jurisdiction in the country,” Williams says, “he took away $1-billion to $1.5-billion. We got cooked. We got $140-million.”

But, he says, it's time to change. “I'm trying to get away from that anti-Harper mentality,” he says.
“I am saying we are here to work with the federal government at any point in time.” - Roy MacGregor Globe & Mail Peace Down East, November 15, 2009

It is realistic to imagine with a good campaign and ground game of a pick up of 1-2 seats in Newfoundland.

Those three provinces alone can give the CPC a large majority if the voters decide to show up and cast their ballots.
