Could 2010 be the year that Michael Ignatieff ropes Stephen Harper? Mr. Ignatieff is on tour across Canada now speaking at Universities to the leaders of our future; our youth. He’s talking about the issues and taking questions. Like Ali in those late rounds of the fight, he’s now starting to jab back.-Cornwall Free Press
Gerry Cooney would be a much better comparison. Just saying!
Known for his big left-hook and his imposing size, the tall, lean Cooney had his first paid fight on February 15, 1977, beating Billy Jackson by a knockout in one round. Nine wins followed and Cooney gained attention as a future contender.
Cooney had an orthodox style, with a good jab, a big-left, and a seldom used right. Most of his fights ended in quick knockouts; while this benefited him in the beginning of his career, it left him unprepared for his fight with Larry Holmes. Despite his devastating punching power, Cooney's moderate stamina and lack of experience proved to be his downfall. Many feel he had real potential, but was limited by his lack of experience.

Write a comment in the Cornwall Free News that is critical (even in small measure) to the left and see what happens. You will recieve an e-mail from the publisher stating that if you cannot say nice things about the Liberals, then it would be better to say nothing at all.
In other words, agree with me or F.O.. This happened recently to an e-mail buddy of mine.
Actually, it would be fun if they were flooded with Tory commentary from your regular posters .
Gerry Cooney was never more than the classic "great white hope",and being Boston Irish certainly helped maintain the illusion.
I heard about Cooney from a fellow amateur boxer who enthusiastically endorsed him as the next Champion, and his record certainly looked good. But then I saw him fight and had to say he had NO chance against Larry Holmes, a highly skilled and very tough former sparring partner of Muhammad Ali.
I won a lot of bets when the Big Event happened, as everybody I knew bet with their hearts instead of their heads.
I'd compare Ignatieff more to Canada's Willie-Boy Dewitt, who was a world amateur champion but slow and not very good defensively. His pro debut was a disgrace,as our Willie beat up on an overweight part-time pro who'd lost over half his fights, but had nine kids to feed back home in Louisianna.
Willy, like Ignatieff, was spectacularly prevalent against a bunch of has-beens and never-weres, but then his handlers made the mistake of putting him in the ring with a real boxer,Smokin' Bert Cooper.
The result was one of the worst beatings I have ever seen in the several hundred matches I've watched.
Ignatieff defeated the second-raters of the Liberal Party to get the Leadership, but now he's in the pros, and he has to take on a real fighter to win the championship, PM Harper.
The next election should see Ignatieff back in Harvard, among his intellectual peers.
And good luck to him.

I have read what Iffy says in the Universities and I find it rather odd that we allow outright lies like AGW and the torture thingy to be spoken of by Iffy as fact in a publicly funded forum.
Not to mention distorting the truth and outright lies have no place in an institute of learning.
Dmorris,
MI has not beaten any Liberal in any democratic contest.
His riding race was rigged, he lost to Dion and Bob Rae got told no thanks by the Bay Street boys.
So MI is not an elected leader through an open democratic contest.
Big Red Magnum,
The Liberals have refused to give any details what they would have done differently.
They refused to offer any alternative or ideas in 2009.
The Plan was to let Harper wear the recession. The five days before the writ is dropped has been the main talking point after the failed coalition in 08.
