FOX NEWS CANADA: Armageddon is Here!

Gameover, checkmate, you sunk my battleship!

If the Conservatives were allowed to hear views that was not wrapped around the Trudeau mantra of social justice, hug a thug, a majority would be a shoe-in for the conservative party.
The Canadian conservative channel would have to be balanced and allow Tim Ball and David Suzuki to appear on the same show for debate.
For it to be credible, resources would have to be directed to investigate issues in a serious manner.

Sending a crew around the globe to replicate the TMZ would backfire.

The former chief spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper is spearheading a bid by Quebecor Inc. to set up a Fox News-style TV station in Canada with an unabashedly right-of-centre perspective.

It's true the deregulation is coming and the old media empires will adapt or fail.

More competition, better pricing is needed in many industries.

I spend a somewhat more than a quarter of a year in the U.S. A great deal of what Fox news champions needs to be part of the discourse there. I am a Canadian Conservative but not anywhere near being an American style Republican.

We need a news channel that treats our more moderate Canadian right wing with some balanced reporting and some in depth rational commentary.

The CTV has a VP who is given a leave of absense to help and manage with the Liberal campaigns. CTV's leading "impartial" commentator calls us Conservatives TROGLODYTES".

The CBC jumps through hoops to give their extreme leftist viewpoints through their selection of so-called neutral commentators.

We need a station doesn't hide their biases.

Great news. I for one would pay for it without hesitation.

THe CRTC will crush this, probably for the same reason they force CTV to run their gimped "newsnet" format. They are there to protect the CBC monopoly, nothing else.

Telecom

A government website to gather comment has been set up at Digitaleconomy.gc.ca.

The minister’s speech comes as Canada’s wireless sector faces heated competition between major carriers and new incumbents rolling out across the country at a cautious pace.

Cellphone service operator Globalive Wireless, which is funded in large part by an Egyptian firm, began selling wireless services late last year. Mobilicity and Public Mobile began to increase their services in May and other players, including Quebecor’s Videotron unit, plan to enter the business as well.

Yes the monopolies are going to find out times are changing and the old way is done.

Ken Engelhart, vice-president of regulatory affairs at Rogers, said he has been involved in "emergency" meetings on foreign ownership liberalization for 10 years.

"I am sure the government has a lot of will, but it's proven to be a very stubborn file in the past. Canadians are quite nationalistic," Engelhart said.

"Canadians feel that they should have Canadian-owned carriers, so there has been a real reluctance to move on this."

Others in the industry have also shown some reluctance to the potential changes, including CRTC chairman Konrad von Finckenstein. He has said that both broadcasters and telecoms work hand-in-hand, which would make it very difficult to separate their functions through regulation

This is great news.
I believe the CRTC would try to block it from airing on cable.
But why be afraid of a Canadian company competing in the Canadian market?

There is a licence available.
The Saskatchewan government is shutting down SCN.

Even if the CRTC denies Quebecor, they should go ahead and set up something online like Reason, American Thinker, American Spectator or National Review Online.
TV is becoming less relevant anyway.
