NDP-Liberal leaders Failed To Defend Multiculturalism

Is it me but did the views by Gilles Duceppe referring to multiculturalism as threat to Quebec distinct society not merit more scrutiny from the Press? Did anyone notice the Jack and Mike response? Can you imagine if ANY conservative made those statements?
Is Terry M. covering PM flight to Geneva making him cranky?
Duceppe also tried to compare the foreign affairs record of our PM to George W. Bush. Our PM quickly took him to task and bragged about Canada's efforts in Haiti and Libya. Our PM reminded the pickering speakers  of the UN recognition and  Canada's appointment on the maternal health file.

Our PM gave the each of the leaders a reminder why voters have given Conservatives two mandates. They tried to suggest our foreign aid was cut back, Jack and Michael failed. Who will defend multiculturalism, minorities in Quebec from the Bloc and PQ? It does not appear the NDP or Liberals have the stomach to take their coalition partner to the woodshed for his comments.

Our PM was able to remind the unhappy participants that Canada is doing very well compared to other developed economies. They could not refute his comments. They could also not attack the experts and economists that raising taxes will cost $ 40 billion in investment and 200,000 jobs. This debate had  our PM laying out his message to voters why a majority is necessary. Ignatieff was clearly agitated by our PM asking for a majority to stop the bickering and give Canadians a break from the constant electioneering every two years. I believe our PM made his case by the lack of substance on display from the opposition leaders.

The three Amigos tried the fear card on the Long Gun registry, hidden agenda on abortion, capital punishment and healthcare. It fell flat. The track record is clear and the Conservative priorities and cooperation led the longest minority in Canadian history.

The last five years this Conservative government has been spending billions on requipping our military, restoring cuts to pensions, health, education and social services from the previous Liberal administration. This Conservative government did not attack the most vulnerable to balance their federal books. Ignatieff did not brag about the Chretien-Martin legacy about those tough decisions.

The NDP and Liberals supported the Bloc motion to require all Supreme Court judges pass tests in French. They also joined the Bloc in blocking the Bill on Democratic Reform to add seats to Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia in the 40th Parliament. Chantal Herbert noted this was the worst performance of Gilles Duceppe.

What else can we expect from Jack and Michael in appeasement of the Bloc?

The poll pegs Conservative support across the country at 45%, Liberal support at 24%, the NDP at 16%, Bloc support at 8% and Green Party support at 7%. Thankfully with numbers like these if they hold up for advance voting and May 2, 2011, Canadians won't need to rely on the NDP or Liberals to protect minorities in Quebec.

Andrew Coyne's Leap of Faith?

Martin government to fall: Coalition Version 2004?
Andrew Coyne is trying to convince us, Stephen Harper leader of official opposition was in a similar arrangement  after a tweet summit with staff in Gilles Duceppe office. Andrew also asks us to take the word from David McGuinty that the Liberals won't re-enter in the coalition agreement that does not expire until 2011. Mr.  Coyne, for the sake of clarity, I suggest you arrange a video interview with the 2004 conspirators Gilles, Layton to answer a few basic questions. They can provide proof the letter sent to the GG in 2004 was similar.
In 2008 every MP in the proposed Lib-NDP coalition government was REQUIRED to sign onto the terms contained in the coalition accord and Ignatieff as deputy leader signed it last.  There was no effort by any leader in their party to have their MPs endorse the letter sent to the GG on the "alleged" coalition of the opposition parties in 2004.

Does this mean in 2004 Layton, Duceppe felt their MPs signatures were not necessary?
It might only be me but the Jean Chretien explanation of proof leaves me with several unanswered questions. I was able to find a picture of Harper, Duceppe, Layton next to each others cooperating for a photo op. Bonus:BBQ Martin to get grilled?

Can I expect our media provide actual proof before drawing conclusions or is creating controversy for your publication sufficient?
  • Telephone conversations from senior staff
  • Briefing notes draft letter about make up of coalition government
  • MPs signing off from each party
  • Mechanism for dispute resolution by this arrangement in 2004
  • Power sharing agreement to avoid a no confidence vote, a termination date, renewal clause
Disclaimer:
Is it possible Conservatives did enter or negotiate with the Bloc or NDP into setting up a coalition accord similar? Yes, but before I can be convinced Stephen Harper did agree to a coalition with the Bloc and NDP I need proof. Waving that signed letter sent to the GG by Gilles or Jack for the next 36 days does not meet my standard of proof.

Canadians Feeling better about this Government: Ekos Research

Canadians reward Conservative government with a 6.6% lift in right direction
“The cognoscenti watch the directional numbers and these don't look good at all for the government right now. Less than 4 in 10 Canadians think the government is moving in the right direction. Majority governments typically enjoy the confidence of about 60% on this right track/wrong track measure.” That was Frank Graves in June 10, 2010

It is hard to imagine who should be more distressed by the current patterns. The Liberals remain mired in unthinkable depths for Canada's erstwhile natural governing party. They are now clearly stuck in Dion levels and are attracting about half the vote that they routinely recorded in polls ten years ago. It is little wonder that heightened talks of alliances and leadership continue to circulate.
Yet the poll may be even gloomier for the ruling Conservative Party. While they still cling to a declining lead, they are in danger of falling below the 30 point-ceiling. The patterns show a clear decline which has seen a comfortable lead of nearly ten points dwindle to a downright uncomfortable 4-point margin over the past month. Their current vote intention is the lowest since they took office and the leading direction of federal government indicator is the lowest for any sitting Canadian government in the 11 years we have been tracking it. To be blunt, it is difficult to see how the Conservatives could form a legitimate government on the basis of these numbers. Frank Graves June 17, 2010

I am curious if the caretaker in Stornoway residence is trying to get himself fired nowadays. Every time he has asked the public to take a closer look they are turned off with his tenure as leader. In June 2009 his four ultimatums was followed up with line in the sand ($ 3 billion stimulus). He than proceeded with a "your time is up" in the Fall of 2009. For most of 2010 his party and their merry men have been playing peekaboo during critical votes ensuring the Conservatives would have no reason to ask for a dissolution. Is Ignatieff weighing down the Liberals or is the brand damaged beyond repair? -CanadianSense January 17, 2011

A large number of polls had a double digit lead last week and the Ekos poll released this week has determined the 12.5% gap last has evaporated. I don't believe the polling is being paid attention to other than the political junkies. This is fodder for the faithful to demoralize the opponents. Nothing more.

Mass advertising works. Financial fundraising metrics are being ignored as many other structural problems by our MSM.

Will Ignatieff show up for the budget vote with his MP's and stop propping up this government in 2011 as promised in December 2010?

I am hoping so, I look forward to being dazzled by the messaging of the MSM and Liberals why Canada sucks and we need to raise taxes. This should be fun watching the coalition itemize their priorities.

Coalition Manifesto: Three Stooges

Another layer of Coalition Manifesto was peeled back. When will the media ask about the conditions to keep the separatists in line for 18 months? What did Layton have on them?

“The problem is [the Liberals and NDP] had no proposals to face the [economic] crisis. So we said, ‘We made public our proposals three days ago, if you want to use them, use them.’ So they took 85 per cent of that. When they came back with my proposals, I said yes.”

We support Dion as PM
I disagree with Gilles that Dion-Layton did not have massive spending policies in their 2008 campaign platforms, they did. I suggest they had to change them to gain power as your support was necessary.

Prorogue sealed Dion's fate. Ignatieff team pushed democratic contest aside.
The GG granted prorogue five days before the scheduled Christmas holidays. The Liberals under Ignatieff did the predictable thing and remove the Liberal platform from their own website. The Liberals-Democrats simply sold us out. The Liberals made a tactical mistake in passing the Throne Speech and giving the PM confidence.

If Canadians return another Conservative minority, the coalition will only need to reject the Throne Speech to gain control of government. They are entitled to keep their backroom deals private. Canadians will have to decide a Conservative majority or a Coalition led government dependent on Gilles Duceppe.

Ignatieff may have not been comfortable with signing his name last on an agreement giving the Bloc a veto over the coalition. He may have not been comfortable with it being led by a figurehead that reduced the Liberal party to their worst showing in 150 years. Ignatieff could have killed the deal and not signed on the principles he invoked in May 2009 but he chose for the sake of his leadership ambitions to go along with Layton-Duceppe. He failed as a leader and as a unifier.

Separtist Gilles Duceppe: No Passports EI For Canadians?

Open Parliament
When did the Separatists decide National policy?

Liberal leader Ignatieff, Democrat leader Layton are on the wrong side of this debate again.

They don't trust lawful gun owners.

Do they believe threats and fines, withdrawal of services and payments is going to fly with Canadians?

Can they be so out of touch?

Demanding we force Canadians to fill out a forty page form is necessary?

“Obviously you can't foresee every single case but a passport, yes. There's been a case this year in Quebec in which the principle of withholding a passport for a deadbeat dad has been upheld.”

This is not my Canada.

Best PM Stephen Harper 83.3% up 4.1%

LSI- May 2010
It appears some bloggers and pundits are worried about the latest analysis that the Liberals have improved from their worst popular vote in 150 years because of a couple of polls released by Ekos Research and Nanos Research recently.

Ignatieff Layton both lose points in leadership index score

Speculation gone wild?
Gilles Duceppe, the Leader of the Bloc Québécois.
Both of the surveys have been taken place at the end of summer and do not reflect a trend. The poll continues to reinforce Canadians don't trust the Liberal leader. Gilles Duceppe the leader of the Separatist party ties the Liberal leader on trust. Jack Layton beats the Liberal leader for second place. This has been the pattern for months. If you examine the leadership scores the PM has improved in every category since May 2010.
The Summer of Discontent as told by the Liberal media
The media love to talk about the race when the Liberals are within a few points of the Conservatives. The Liberals have been above thirty per cent four times since February 2010. In almost every instance the media ramp up the noise on why the Liberals have become competitive and why the Conservatives have slipped. I refer to the four times the Liberals have hit above thirty is just noise.
  • The media need to push their narrative that voters are buying into their fairytale and will likely vote according to a few polls.
  • The media and the opposition recite the latest fluffy issue(s) as the reason why the numbers have moved.
  • The media will ignore the real numbers behind each organization that refute these Polls as noise.
NewsDesk
Real News:
  • The Bank of Canada increased its key interest rate by a quarter point to 1 percent. In June, Canada became the first Group of Seven nation to raise interest rates since the global economic crisis. It raised rates again in July.

  • The bank said borrowing conditions remain exceptionally stimulative and said any further rate hikes will need to be carefully considered considering the unusual uncertainty surrounding the outlook.
  • The bank believes the economic recovery in Canada will be slightly more gradual than it projected because of a weaker outlook in the U.S.

  • Canada withstood the global economic crisis better than most developed countries. There was no mortgage meltdown or sub prime lending crisis in Canada where the financial sector is dominated by five large banks.
  • Canada has made up nearly all the jobs lost during the recession. The unemployment rate edged up one-tenth of a point to 8 percent in July, the first time the rate has risen in almost a year.

Last week, Canada reported that the country's gross domestic product rose 2 percent in the second quarter, down from 5.8 percent growth in the first quarter.

Canadians have a great deal to be proud of regardless of how the Canadian media ignore the good news.

Separatist Tour 2010: Gilles Duceppe

According to a report in Monday’s Journal de Quebec, Gilles Duceppe met this week with the U.S. Consul-General posted to Quebec and with the State Department’s Director of Canadian Affairs, and requested their assistance in organizing a visit to several American cities in October. The purpose of the tour, according to the report, is to promote Quebec sovereignty internationally.
Separatist Worldview?
“I hope to explain Quebec’s situation and how we see it. We already do this regularly each year with ambassadors posted to Canada. It’s the Bloc’s job to communicate a point of view that is different from what they get from Messrs. Harper, Ignatieff et Layton.”

I witnessed earlier this month. As various natives described the cause of the demonstration - the desire for democracy and self-determination, frustration with laws and court rulings from Madrid, the capital of Spain - the similarities to the states' rights movement here in the US in response to Washington overreach were too similar for me to ignore. - Catalonian Tea Party?

The conflict in Catalonia is political, fiscal, historical and cultural. Catalonia was once a sovereign nation that was conquered by Spain 300 years ago. Their culture is actually closer to French culture than Spanish, and their language is something of a mix between French and Italian. I say this because this is not an instance of a truly Spanish state trying to break away from Spain, rather a completely different nation/culture trying to rule itself.
The Liberal Party decided unilaterally to change the rules regarding how politicial parties raise funds. In 1993 fourteen political parties were able to participate in the general election.
A great summary on Election Finance Reform called  Canadian Campaign Finance Reform Since 2000: Path Dependent or Dynamic? is a must read. It provide a background with details regarding court cases and challenges in the changes. - A Separatist Fantasy land
Conservative revenue is up about 60% since the 2004 changes to party finance. The Liberals are down 12%. Righting that balance has to be one of Michael Ignatieff's biggest priorities as Liberal leader.- Mapleleaf Web
Between 2004 and 2008, Canadians will have spent $290 million on subsidies to federal political parties. If subsidies continue, either because of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s reversal on the matter, or if a Liberal-NDP-Bloc Quebecois coalition takes power, Canadians will pay out another $260 million to parties between 2009 and 2013. That’s almost the price tag on another federal election fight between Ottawa’s warring forces.- Frontier Centre
Exit Strategy?
We have forty-nine Separatists demand their voice be heard. These Separatists demand Canada respect their demands of allowing Quebec to secede by playing the victim card. These forty-nine separatist ignore the results of two referendums.
The Separatists have no problem in demanding their minority voice represents the majority interest in retaining an imbalance of seats in the federal parliament. The Separatists have no difficulty in demanding the majority of Canadians stop progress, plans to adopt a national regulator or balance their books if it impacts on their interests. These Separatists have NEVER won the support of the majority in Quebec voters in any general election but they regularly stand up and accuse the federalist Members of Parliament in Quebec as voting against the best interest of Quebec. How does our Canadian media refer to the 38% popular vote in Quebec for the Separatists? Can you find an analysis of these riding and Bloc support? Where do the Separatists have the most of their support and seats? The Bloc with 87% are the most dependent on the political party subsidy welfare from the taxpayer compliments of the Chretien Liberal majority. The Liberals are next in reliance of the welfare from taxpayers.- Parliament: Rewriting History Canadian Media on Hiatus
The numbers tell the story. The Bloc raised only $850,000 last year but took in $2.7-million in public money, for a ratio of one private dollar to 3.5 public dollars. The Conservatives’ ratio is 1.7 to 1, the Liberals about 1 to 1 and the NDP about 1 to 1. The national parties, therefore, are working as best as they can at fundraising, earning at least as much, if not more, from their own efforts than from public funds.
The Bloc, as you can see from the numbers, is mostly riding on taxpayers’ dollars – most of them from outside Quebec – to promote itself and, by extension, the breakup of Canada
.
November 2008 Coalition
Here, then, is the greatest effect of the law of unintended consequences: Canadians’ tax dollars are being used legally but quite flagrantly to finance a party that wants to end the country as we have known it for 143 years. Understanding this, no one should ever question the generosity of Canadians, although that generosity can certainly be described as nuts.- Party financing: Yes, end the public subsidy, but raise the individual limit
I recommend you look at Pundits Guide for update information about Political Finances. It is the best non-partisan site for Canadian politics with numbers for analysis.

The Conservatives took in $4.1 million in donations between April 1 and the end of June, compared to $2.4 million for the Liberals, NDP and Bloc Quebecois combined. For the Conservatives it is their best second quarter result since coming to power in 2006, despite months of negative headlines about deficits, Guergis and the G20. The Liberals raised a total of $1.6 million, down from last year's total of $4 million when they actually out-tallied the Conservatives on fundraising.- Media Coalition Efforts Fail To Dent Conservative Agenda
Will the Liberals, Democrats side with the Separatists in blocking Democratic Reform of adding seats to Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia and by protecting the federal tax dollars for the separatist point of view on the international stage?
Will the Liberals and Democrats denounce the separatists who may damage trade and international relations for pushing their point of view already rejected two times?

Ignatieff vs Duceppe

Chalk this up to another Bad Day at the Office or the Wheels coming off the bus. Watching Ignatieff is as entertaining as watching paint dry. Did he lose a bet and take this job?

Another interesting result from Angus Reid Public Opinion Poll conducted between July 6 - 8, 2010 of 2,031 Canadians. the Liberal team latest messiah to lead them back to the promised land.

Michael Ignatieff simply does not understand his rhetoric is crossing the lines of reasonable criticism in Canada. It is because he is out of touch with those he is trying to connect with from his long absence from Canada. He is ignoring his lack of leadership in whipping the votes for his own motions and blames others for his party lack of effectiveness in getting their act together.

In September 2009 his right arm in Quebec quit, Ignatieff does not get Canada and his circle of advisers from Toronto don't know how to fix it. Result the star candidate has moved on and left the Liberal ranks.

A moderate politician would NOT resort to invoking Hugo Chavez style rhetoric or denigrate Canada's human rights record when appeasing a room full of Chinese students. Canadians rightly view Ignatieff as the weakest link in the proposed coalition by the Liberal media.

Trudeau would have never made these amatuerish comments. When are Iggy's training wheels expected to be taken off? Is Ignatieff incapable of providing some adult conversation on a few detailed-costed policies and how the Liberals would do things differently?

The Liberal leader said his party is the only one that owns the centre of Canada’s political spectrum, noting Canadians can “smell the whiff of sulfur coming off” of Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who he said, is on the extreme right. - Iggy vows to win Canadians the old-fashioned way

Divide & Conquer: Fanning the flames of Intolerance of your opponent has been used in politics to demonize and boost the morale of your partisans for hundreds of years. If we take a critical examination on how the Liberal Party campaigned against the Reform Party, Canadian Alliance with the support of the mainstream media in tow.
GTA Liberals
The Liberal Party is falling apart, and will not recover. Like all liberal parties in Europe, it will become a weakling at the mercy of ephemeral coalitions. By refusing the historic coalition that would have placed it at the helm of the left, it will be punished by history. - Armageddon Liberals: 2010
"Image is very powerful. There is a certain proportion of the electorate, at least 25 per cent, who judges this on this basis. It makes a huge difference," says political economist Harold Chorney.

Separtist at Cheese factory
How does the leader of the leader of the official opposition, stack up with the leader of the regional separtist party that is overwhelmingly supported by a minority? What do Canadians think?

Gilles Duceppe earns the highest rating for foolish but beats Ignatieff on key personality traits that are required to build trust that in Ignatieff. He does NOT have the right stuff and would be unable to lead or negotiate any coalition deal that would protect Canada as he is seen as a boring, inefficient weakling by most Canadians in the latest poll.

Central Canada Keeps Seat Majority

The Bloc are a funny bunch. Some think they are anti-Alberta with the numerous attacks on the provincial matters (energy) from Alberta.
The Bloc are equal opportunity mudslingers that put the interests of their Bloc voters first.
I would say the Bloc have an equal disdain for Ontario as well. How many times did the Bloc complain about the Auto industry getting a bailout in Question Period?
The Bloc are masterful of playing the victim of unfair treatment as they only run candidates in Quebec and have NO REASON to protect the National interest.
The Bloc have made it clear on a number of occassions where their priorities and loyalites lie, Quebec.
The Bloc do NOT represent the majority in Quebec. They in fact share the same level of support as the CPC on a National scale. The Bloc won 38.1% of the popular vote but won 65% of the 75 seats in Quebec.
The Coalition apologists repeated they represented the 62% majority in November 2008. The Federal Parties represent the majority in Quebec and in their platform none of them promised to support the Bloc motions to restrict English for Supreme Court appointments.
The CPC in 2008 won 37.7% of the popular vote and earned 46% of the seats across Canada. Excluding Quebec 75 seats they won a significant mandate with over 57% of the seats. In 2009 they won two more seats including a Bloc seat held for 16 years seat to bring them to 145 seats. They are ten seats short of a numerical majority.
Protecting English, minority language rights in Quebec. I can't find in the platform of the NDP to remove the use English from Federal buildings in Quebec either in their campaign promises from 2008. Maybe someone can provide link?
Why are the NDP pandering to the Bloc? Does the French language need protection by eliminating the use of English in Quebec's federal buildings?
The question for the political parties that ally themselves with the Bloc, namely the NDP and Liberals how does this protect Canadian interests against the separtists party?
Are you pandering the French in Quebec requiring the French language be mandatory on the Supreme Court? Why not demand the same protection for English and other minorities in Quebec?
From 308 to 338 Central Canada keeps the majority of seats. The WEST  is not moving the Parliament to Fort McMurry next week.
Why are the two Federal parties, the Liberal Party of Canada,  the New Democratic Party pandering to a separtist political party in Quebec that represents a minority in the province of Quebec only?
Are the NDP, Liberals participating in pittting region against region on behalf of the separtists in Quebec for political advantage?
Update: Political Parties playing games in Ottawa?
As an example to Canadians the MP's from the Bloc, NDP, Liberals who have demanded fluency for employment to the Supreme Court through their motion.

Canadians should demand the same for those three parties playing this political game.
How many NDP, Liberals are fluently French again? How many Bloc are fluently English? They should not run for office until they have passed those "tests".
Let's hope Jack Layton, Michael Ignatieff, Gilles Duceppe hold their party to the same standards.
