Liberal Media unable to grasp with Conservative Majority

Media Hype: NDP win in Quebec and NWT
It has been several weeks since Canadians sent the two of the three opposition parties to the woodshed. The NDP were only successful in the province of  Quebec and NWT for popular vote. The left leaning experts in the media keep harping on some mystical "Orange Crush" and they continue to give the failed opposition parties too much credit for the 41st election results. It will be entertaining to watch the political pundits and actors on the left complain and decry the elimination and reduction of wasteful programs and policies.

NDP beat CPC in QC, NFLD and NWT
It has not dawned on the rejected opposition parties and the left leaning pundits that this majority government mandate can be repeated in four and half years. Abacus found 46% were somewhat or very satisfied with the majority Conservative government, while 41% were somewhat or very unsatisfied with that particular result. If the government delivers on it promises to focus on the economy and deal with significant issues, the Ottawa Hill chattering class will face another rebuke in next election with their political parties facing wider losses.

Liberals fertile ground  NFLD & PEI?
The NDP only picked up two new seats out the 95 available in West+North in 2011. In Ontario the NDP picked up only five seats additional seats out of the 106 available. The bulk of the NDP success can be attributed to one province that went gaga and punished every other political party a few weeks ago. Quebec's honeymoon with Jack will be entertaining to watch. Jack Layton is not Jack Sparrow and he will not have Hollywood backstopping the NDP in 2015. Jack will need to reach out to his base for donations. Some in our media have begun to asking the tough questions that were not asked during the campaign. The lack of substance on major files, the balancing the Quebec vs ROC interests will undermine "Orange Crush" and popularity of Jack Layton.

Next budget will sail through Vuvuzuela opposition MPs
The CPC victory a few weeks ago reflect a balanced distribution of their seats across Canada ex Quebec. The rout in Ontario for the Liberals has them reduced to eleven seats in Ontario. Newfoundland, PEI and Ontario were the only provinces that gave the Liberals a tie or a lead against the NDP.
Wiki 41st Election Map

The Ottawa - Toronto media will spend it's time chasing issues that don't matter to the average taxpayer that participated in our 41st election that sent the Conservatives a large majority. Watch for the Conservatives to move quickly on their platform and expand their reach in Ontario and Atlantic Canada for their next campaign in 2015. It is a great time to be a Conservative in Canada.

New Brunswick Erases Liberal Experiment

Graham, Donolo, Graves, McGuinty, Charest, Ignatieff, Layton, Duceppe are you paying attention?
The Days of Big Government, silly taxes, wasteful spending is coming to an end. Stay tuned cheerleaders of the left, the Tim Horton's Party is coming for you!
The Liberal bus has just lost another Liberal Premier and Province to pedal their snake oil. You should have listened to the voters on the Long Gun Registry.

You should have not tried to sell out to Quebec Hydro. You should respect the tax payer and law abiding citizens.
The philosopher-comedian Russel Peters was correct somebody going to get a hurt and that somebody is you. Let us send at least 30 Federal Liberals into retirement at the earliest opportunity.

Iggy and Mrs. Piggy

“Pumba”, a very large, very pregnant pig, napping by the side of the barn.

Apparently the noise and an alleged crowd from a visit by the Liberal leader awoke her. In an attempt of comic humour Iggy mistook Pumba for a potential voter? (Anyone tracking the Carbon taxpayer footprint of the Liberal Express?)

Perhaps Ignatieff hopes Pumba's reasoning skills are higher than that of the Sun readers as suggested by his former Chief of Staff Ian Davey on Sunday.

Feel free to add your own caption.

Ignatieff Channels Rodney Dangerfield

The poll found Ignatieff earned a net negative score in every region of the country, among men and women, all age groups and all education levels. He scored worse than Harper among all demographic groups, except Quebecers and those with post-graduate degrees.

Summer tour lifts Liberals, but not Ignatieff: poll

Only self-identified Liberal supporters gave Ignatieff an overall positive rating and even that was tepid — 54 per cent favourable versus 32 per cent unfavourable.
Liberal strategist reading Ignatieff leadership scores
Harper, by contrast was viewed favourably by a whopping 88 per cent of Conservatives. He also scored overall positive ratings among Prairie respondents and those with college educations.
Harris-Decima chairman Allan Gregg said the results suggest Ignatieff has failed to cultivate a base of loyal supporters who view him as their champion.
“He simply does not have a base out there, whereas Harper does,” Gregg said in an interview.
“As a consequence . . . the Conservative vote is far more resilient when it gets pushed down and, on the other side, there’s no lift for the Liberal vote that might be provided by leadership.”

Ignatieff: Does Sack of Hammers

United Nations General Assembly hall in New Yo...
United Nations
Ignatieff may be considered by many in the Liberal media circles as the next Prime Minister but after this latest statement proves, he is not smarter than a sack of hammers:
"This is Canada, not Australia," Ignatieff said. "That means Canada has principles, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, our international obligations."-Ignatieff
Ignatieff: Dumb as a Sack of Hammers
The Liberal leader has been blamed already for causing scuttling an investment deal in Quebec with China. The Jeffrey Mine says it had a Chinese investor lined up and willing to invest $40 million, but that its would-be partner became scared over comments from the Liberal leader. Is he willing to sabotage international relations between Canada and Australia and investments to score cheap shots?
The Convention was adopted by the United Nations Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the Status of Refugees and Stateless Persons, held at Geneva from 2 to 25 July 1951. The Conference was convened pursuant to resolution 429 (V), adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 14 December 1950.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

The 1980s saw new challenges for UNHCR, with many member states unwilling to resettle refugees due to the sharp rise in refugee numbers over the 1970s. Often, these refugees were not fleeing wars between states, but inter-ethnic conflict in newly independent states. The targeting of civilians as military strategy added to the displacement in many nations, so even 'minor' conflicts could result in a large number of displaced persons. Whether in Asia, Central America or Africa, these conflicts, fueled by superpower rivalry and aggravated by socio-economic problems within the concerned countries, durale solutions continued to prove a massive challenge for the UNHCR. As a result, the UNHCR became more heavily involved with assistance programs within refugee camps, often located in hositle environments.[1]
The end of the Cold War marked continued inter-ethnic conflict and contributed heavily to refugee flight. In addition, humanitarian intervention by multinational forces became more frequent and the media began to play a big role, particularly in the lead up to the 1999 NATO mission in Yugoslavia, while by contrast, the 1994 Rwandan Genocide had little attention. The genocide in Rwanda caused a massive refugee crisis, again highlighting the difficulties for UNHCR to uphold its mandate, and the UNHCR continued to battle against restrictive asylum policies in so called 'rich' nations.[1]

In September 2009, UNHCR welcomed the European Commission's proposal for the establishment of a Joint EU Resettlement Programme. UNHCR encourages greater European engagement in refugee resettlement. At present, 90% of the refugees resettled every year are accepted by the United States, Canada and Australia. All European countries together provide roughly six per cent of the world's resettlement opportunities.
Liberal MPs have forced Michael Ignatieff to swallow his words and scuttle a brewing bipartisan deal on major refugee reforms, jeopardizing the bill and revealing the leader’s shaky hold on his caucus. - Liberal Party implodes

All hat and no cattle?
The best moment in Virtual War is when Ignatieff allows the facts to speak against his tendency to defend armed intervention. This occurs, paradoxically, when he describes Arbour's indictment of Milosevic, not NATO's bombing, as the crucial moment that turned the tide in the Kosovo war. The indictment finally took the sort of action against Milosevic that well-informed pacifists had been demanding for years. It froze his foreign assets, allowed his international bank accounts to be subpoenaed, and prevented him from traveling. Such nonviolent measures may have had a greater impact in securing the pullout of Yugoslavian troops from Kosovo than NATO's beguiling high tech weapons. -What Michael Ignatieff Left Out
So how does Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff justify singling out Australia and attacking our Prime Minister with his failed understanding of signed treaties, historical context and our stellar record on refugees?  Australia and Canada have nothing to be ashamed about and the Liberal leader demonstrates by opening his mouth in Winnipeg he removes any doubt he is no smarter than a sack of hammers.немой как мешок молотков

UPDATE

Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration, 2009

Message from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism

As Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, I am pleased to present the 2009 Annual Report to Parliament on Immigration.
Canadians can be very proud of the fact that throughout our history we have maintained a tradition of openness to newcomers from around the world. We have maintained the highest relative level of immigration of any major western country, attracting nearly a quarter of a million permanent residents in 2008. In 2010, we intend to welcome between 240,000 and 265,000 permanent residents.
In the past five years, Canada has relied on immigration for more than two-thirds of its population growth, and within the next decade we expect that all our labour force growth will come from immigration. This presents tremendous opportunities along with certain challenges. We need to ensure that newcomers with the professional and technical expertise Canada needs are able to enter the labour market.
With the expansion of the Foreign Credentials Referral Office, we are helping foreign-trained professionals put their skills, credentials and work experience to use in Canada. As well, the increase of $1.4 billion over five years to fund settlement programs is helping newcomers obtain language training, job counselling, and information services to better integrate into Canadian society.
I am proud of what we accomplished in 2008 and continue to accomplish in 2009. We took steps to modernize our immigration process with the Action Plan for Faster Immigration, which is helping to reduce the backlog of applications from federal skilled workers and improve processing times. We implemented the new Canadian Experience Class to help international students and temporary foreign workers in Canada find a path to permanent residence, and we will continue to work with the provinces and territories to strengthen our immigration programs.
We raised awareness of unscrupulous immigration practitioners and consultants, launched a video to help protect applicants against immigration fraud and, we are working to implement fingerprint and live photo technology to help prevent identity fraud and enhance program security.
Our amendments to the Citizenship Act will protect the value of Canadian citizenship while restoring it to those who lost it under previous legislation and recognizing others as Canadian citizens for the first time.
We continued to maintain our long-standing commitments to refugee protection in 2008, welcoming almost 22,000 refugees. We have also answered the call from the international community to admit large groups when needed, including Bhutanese and Karen refugees in 2009. Canada will also more than double the number of privately sponsored Iraqi refugees it accepts from the Middle East over the next five years.
Last year, the Multiculturalism portfolio joined Citizenship and Immigration Canada to develop programming that would focus on integrating newcomers in the long term, building bridges among communities and fostering respect for Canada’s shared institutions, values and history.
Immigration will continue to be a source of economic, social and cultural growth in Canada. I look forward to the many challenges that lie ahead and wish to thank officials in the Department for helping to advance the Government’s agenda.
For more information on Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the work we are undertaking, please visit our website at www.cic.gc.ca.
The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP
Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/annual-report2009/message.asp
Federal Government had legislation to reduce immigration smuggling but Liberals broke deal.
"There's a whole industry in Canada and around the world of people who offer advice to folks who want to immigrate to Canada, and many of these people are unscrupulous operators. We call them crooked consultants," Kenney said in an interview from Toronto.
"They take money, often providing people with counterfeit documents or fraudulent advice or they don't provide any services at all in return."
Legitimate immigration consultants advise and assist prospective Canadian immigrants with their application process. They do their work for a fee.
Immigration consultants are regulated by Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC) and require membership with CSIC to practise in Canada.
According to Kenney there are tens of thousands of people in Canada and abroad who have been victimized by "ghost consultants."
Kenney said the Canada Border Services Agency and other organizations have hundreds of investigations open into allegations of deceitful consultants across the country.
According to Kenney, the new legislation will:
  • make it a criminal offence to operate as an unlicensed immigration consultant
  • increase fines and penalties for infractions
  • encourage other governments to better regulate consultants operating in their own countries
"It's a very fulsome package," Kenney said. "I think it's going to be very well-received."
Kenney can only hope this legislation has a smoother passage through government than his recent bill to reform Canada's refugee system.
After striking a deal with Liberal immigration critic Maurizio Bevilacqua to ensure quick passage of the bill before Parliament's summer recess -- including adopting many Liberal amendments to the bill -- Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff withdrew his party's support to seek even more changes.
The Liberals particularly oppose a provision to expedite claims from refugees who hail from so-called "safe" countries.

Coalition Parties: Risk Public Safety

The coalition parties of Liberals, Democrats and Separatists used their majority to stop a hearing into Airport Security breaches. The Vice chair refused to take over his paid duties (Mark Holland) to protect the opposition voting majority. He should return the $ 5,000 to taxpayers.

While opposition MPs had said they were happy to discuss the issue ahead of time, they quickly formed behind a Liberal motion to dismiss the meeting saying that it was the wrong committee to study the issue. As the committee broke up, one Liberal even said the Conservatives would have to find another way to “take a run at the Muslim community.” This is a shameless attempt to play religion-baiting with what should be a non-partisan security issue. Even Muslim leaders have said that passengers wearing the niqab should allow confirmation of facial identity — a fact that the Ignatieff Liberals ignore in their shameless attempt to play politics with this issue.

This is a security issue, period. Not a religious issue.

Why are we shocked?  That the national media and political parties are all too willing to play the religion - race card?

In October 2009 the Liberal Party tried to suggest Conservatives were racists during the H1N1 crisis.

Grand Chief Ron Evans of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs told a parliamentary committee the flyer was “very disturbing...it’s really troubling to our people.”
The pamphlet arrived on doorsteps after an investigation into an incident in which an official ordered 100 body bags for a First Nations community in Manitoba struggling with an H1N1 outbreak. The investigation concluded there was no ill will and the number was a miscalculation. Evans said the fact the flyer was apparently sent after the incident was resolved suggested the affair is now being politicized. Liberal health critic Dr. Carolyn Bennett apologized.

The same allegations were made against the Conservatives when a Canadian citizen was stranded in Kenya. The media were complicit in suggesting race was a factor. This person was incorrectly reported as a single mother visiting her grandmother. She was visiting her husband and that she had a younger sister was not part of the narrative by the national media. The media and opposition made comments the Federal Government should pay out $ 2.5 million to settle her lawsuit.

We had the national media complicit in playing the religion card during a state funeral our PM mishandled the holy host. They spent weeks playing up this fake story.

Thankfully there are people who are now moving against the national media agenda and politicians who play the race-religion card.

Welcome to Operation: Turf Mark Holland

Mark Holland is the Member of Parliament and Liberal Public Safety critic for the Ajax-Pickering riding. Mr. Holland is also the self proclaimed "leader of the charge to save the long gun registry". Mr. Holland doesn't care the registry has cost tax payers north of $2 billion just to put pieces of paper next to your hunting rifles and farm tools. Mr. Holland doesn't care that this wasteful legislation has done nothing to enhance public safety.

Mr. Holland cares so little about your opinion that he removes all dissenting comments from his Youtube propaganda page and blocks users who disagree with him. That's right Mr. Holland will block you, HIS BOSS, from subscribing to his Youtube channel because of your opinions. Mr. Holland thinks political police organizations which receive money from corporations that built the registry should have an opinion on the long gun registry but not you, his employer.

UPDATE: Another Liberal MPs plays racist card seeking faster aid from Federal Government.

Mr. Karygiannis Liberal MP is accusing the Harper government of withholding aid to flood-ravaged Pakistan because the community in Canada won’t help them win a future election.

A spokeswoman for Minister of International Co-operation Bev Oda, who oversees the Canadian International Development Agency, fired back at Mr. Karygiannis for his comments. “Canada is not ignoring the humanitarian disaster in Pakistan, and you can be sure that we are looking right now at our options to help the people of Pakistan every way we can,” said Isabelle Bouchard, without going into specific plans.
“This is not cheap politics. There are people right now that are suffering in Pakistan and we are looking at every way we can to help them, and we are not going to start doing small politics,” she added. “If the Liberals want to do small politics on the Pakistan people’s back, it’s their choice, but we’re not.”

Which party is playing small politics and dividing us on language, region, religion and race on a regular basis?

Contributions, what contributions?

The Liberal Party's accounting problems reminds me of a line from a 1948 movie The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre

Famous line here.Copied here, here and here.

Alice Funke at Pundits' Guide demostrates again why her site  is  the destination of choice for number crunchers in Canadian Politics.

She makes two conclusions regarding The Case of the Missing Half-Million: A Closer Look at the 2009 Financial Returns

1.that the quarterly filings from the parties (especially the Liberals at the moment) are not reliable indicators of the final amount of contributions that will be reported in the audited year-end statements, and

2.that the dates attributed to donations in either report are not always accurate.

The Liberals remain the MOST dependent on large donations, even though they have a problem recording and collecting as demostrated by their quarterly reports vs their Year End Financial Returns. The Liberals earned the moniker 'party of Bay Street' years ago and it is still the case.

In my opinion Dion may have been responsible for the improvement in fundraising.  The leadership change in December 2008 to install Ignatieff has only resulted in 7,000 new contributors. Iggymania should be concluded as another manufactured newstory by the friends of the Liberal Party.

The Democrats and Conservatives do not rely on large donations. Smaller donations from a larger number of supporters in the lower amounts make up the bulk of the financial support.

How will the media report the financial reporting errors of the Liberal Party, will they provide equal coverage and analysis as they did with Rahim and Pablo?

Central Canada Keeps Seat Majority

The Bloc are a funny bunch. Some think they are anti-Alberta with the numerous attacks on the provincial matters (energy) from Alberta.
The Bloc are equal opportunity mudslingers that put the interests of their Bloc voters first.
I would say the Bloc have an equal disdain for Ontario as well. How many times did the Bloc complain about the Auto industry getting a bailout in Question Period?
The Bloc are masterful of playing the victim of unfair treatment as they only run candidates in Quebec and have NO REASON to protect the National interest.
The Bloc have made it clear on a number of occassions where their priorities and loyalites lie, Quebec.
The Bloc do NOT represent the majority in Quebec. They in fact share the same level of support as the CPC on a National scale. The Bloc won 38.1% of the popular vote but won 65% of the 75 seats in Quebec.
The Coalition apologists repeated they represented the 62% majority in November 2008. The Federal Parties represent the majority in Quebec and in their platform none of them promised to support the Bloc motions to restrict English for Supreme Court appointments.
The CPC in 2008 won 37.7% of the popular vote and earned 46% of the seats across Canada. Excluding Quebec 75 seats they won a significant mandate with over 57% of the seats. In 2009 they won two more seats including a Bloc seat held for 16 years seat to bring them to 145 seats. They are ten seats short of a numerical majority.
Protecting English, minority language rights in Quebec. I can't find in the platform of the NDP to remove the use English from Federal buildings in Quebec either in their campaign promises from 2008. Maybe someone can provide link?
Why are the NDP pandering to the Bloc? Does the French language need protection by eliminating the use of English in Quebec's federal buildings?
The question for the political parties that ally themselves with the Bloc, namely the NDP and Liberals how does this protect Canadian interests against the separtists party?
Are you pandering the French in Quebec requiring the French language be mandatory on the Supreme Court? Why not demand the same protection for English and other minorities in Quebec?
From 308 to 338 Central Canada keeps the majority of seats. The WEST  is not moving the Parliament to Fort McMurry next week.
Why are the two Federal parties, the Liberal Party of Canada,  the New Democratic Party pandering to a separtist political party in Quebec that represents a minority in the province of Quebec only?
Are the NDP, Liberals participating in pittting region against region on behalf of the separtists in Quebec for political advantage?
Update: Political Parties playing games in Ottawa?
As an example to Canadians the MP's from the Bloc, NDP, Liberals who have demanded fluency for employment to the Supreme Court through their motion.

Canadians should demand the same for those three parties playing this political game.
How many NDP, Liberals are fluently French again? How many Bloc are fluently English? They should not run for office until they have passed those "tests".
Let's hope Jack Layton, Michael Ignatieff, Gilles Duceppe hold their party to the same standards.

Ekos Polling Trends: Crime & Punishment. April 2010

Ekos Polling here. The trajectory is also interesting. Relatively speaking, there has been a slight but significant drift to the more socially conservative position of punishment, which is up 8 points from the beginning of the decade. Rehabilitation also increased slightly over this period. These findings are consistent with other research that suggests that in terms of attitudes to crime and justice, Canadians may indeed be more socially conservative today than in the past. - April 19, 2010

Liberals rank punishment the lowest in comparison to all political parties. The significance is the Liberals have been responsible for the most appointments and deployment of resources in our judicial system.

August 2007- Canadians would agree that increases in firearm robberies, non-sexual assaults, drug offences, violent youth crime and regional homicide rates are cause for concern. These are precisely the types of crimes this Government has addressed through its comprehensive tackling crime agenda. In fact the Liberal Premier of Ontario, the Mayor of Toronto and the Canadian law enforcement community have all agreed that action must be taken to tackle those crimes.
While Canada’s New Government is encouraged to see that the overall crime rate decreased by 2.6% in 2006, more progress needs to be made. Rob Nicholson

Ontarians, Liberal supporters, and the university educated were the most likely to support pension benefits for prisoners. Yet even here, there was still tremendous support for benefits being denied in some or all circumstances. (You can't make this stuff up) Ekos Polling conducted a Poll March 31- April 6 with 909 people.

Liberal Party of Canada: Wanted New Travel Agent?

Due to recent difficulties another staffing change is being considered to help the Liberals.

Joanne at Blue Like You explains in more concise technical terms that the Liberal Party surely is a "pathetic lot".  Many people were able to leave the island on flights in anticipation of weather related problems (non political class, celebrities, CPC MP's etc). None of the Liberals made the earlier flights.
  • Is getting out of bed and back to work in Ottawa so distasteful for Liberals?
  • the recovery of the economy, leading G7, last in first out!
  • reduced to stunts, character assassinations dictated by strategists.
  • having an annointed leader in third place, polling 150 year low again (M.O.E.)
  • November 2009, 0-4 in every contest CPC winning 50%including one from long held riding Bloc (16 years).
  • failure to match the CPC in financal strength.

Reality Check

Liberal Party of Canada MP's are VOCAL in their criticism of the government on television, and in Question Period and committees. The missing part is ACTION.

Everytime when ACTION is required to end this government the Liberals turn tail and run.

We have heard Liberals repeat "Canadians want an alternative", in every opportunity the Liberals have failed to ACT.

Is it because the Liberals realize they are NOT the alternative?

It would be very difficult to leave home, family and board a plane for the theatre of the absurd.

Liberal Party of Canada: Political Games

In honour of the failed stunt in Question Period to divide Canadians and push abortion, here's a reminder of why the Polls show popular support for the Liberals is only a few points above the worst showing in 150 years..

The Pile on:
"We look like fools," one Liberal MP said privately. Liberal MP Carolyn Bennett, a doctor who argued vigourously in favour of the motion, had, earlier in the week labelled the vote a "day of reckoning" on the issue. It was indeed a day of reckoning -- for her own party. -David Akin
It was a gong show last night in the Commons for Michael Ignatieff and his Liberals; one Liberal MP is even calling it “clown city.”
First, the Liberal motion on the Harper government’s maternal health initiative, aimed at stirring up the Tory bench over reproductive issues, such as abortion, failed. The Grits lost the vote after three of their own MPs opposed it; others abstained and some Liberal MPs, who are pro-life, were told to stay away from the Commons, according to sources.- Jane Taber
"The motion did not specifically talk about abortion, but there was sufficient inference," said Albina Guarnieri, who opposes abortion and skipped the vote. "That's why some people stayed away, myself included."
MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj, who is also opposed to abortion and missed the vote, said he, too, was uncomfortable with the motion's wording. He said he had permission to stay away from the vote and continued with committee work. CBC
If this sort of sloppy behaviour continues, they'll be dreaming up a 2017 vision for an even smaller Liberal opposition that will be staring across the aisle at a Conservative government dynasty. Don Martin
I really don't get the apparent determination of the Liberals to identify themselves as the party of Big Abortion. They've been on this kick for weeks now, culminating in Tuesday's revolt by Liberal MPs against the party leadership. When Michael Ignatieff first suggested the Tories were slagging off women by not energetically encouraging abortion in developing countries, I figured it was just another misstep by a surprisingly accident-prone leader. I thought he'd quickly be apprised of his mistake, and shut up about it. But no. He kept it up, apparently convinced there are votes to be had by raising the one issue guaranteed to make a large segment of the population decidedly uncomfortable. Kelly McParland

 March for Life
OTTAWA - Campaign Life Coalition is hoping this year’s National March for Life will draw 20,000 people to Parliament Hill on May 13 with help from Ottawa area Catholic schools.
Last year’s march drew more than 12,000 people, the largest crowd in the event’s 12 years. About half of the marchers were young people. But many of these were bused in from other cities around Ontario.  -Catholic Register
Talk to Liberals – office holders, party organizers, fundraisers – around the country and you will tap into a malaise that a good pollster could rout out with a single question: “What's happening?” “Nothin',” the vast majority would respond, with a margin of error of plus or minus very little.
“There is no Liberal Party,” says one lifelong card carrier who has sat at cabinet tables.
“It died a long time ago. It's not completely extinct yet, but there's no there there.” In this lifelong Liberal's eyes, the party has been stalled for years. No new energy, no new ideas, no vision of what it might like to do. The singular advantage of proroguing, this Liberal would say, is that it has put an end to the squirming every time the opposition pounces.
“The ‘gotcha' stuff is out of control,” says the Liberal. “They bring in all these nerdy keener kids from campus and it's some kind of game to them. They're turning politics into pro wrestling.” The media concentrates on the top, Ignatieff, and on the Hill, but disenchanted Liberals say there is a story to be told far from the now-silenced sound bites of the Centre Block.- Globe & Mail
