Tax Revolt Brewing In Ontario: Liberals Wiped out?

One down, one more to go?
Toronto, Ontario taxpayers will be informed through television, newspapers of the compensation levels in staffing from Toronto City Hall, and our Ontario Provincial Government over the next few days. Any idea how that will play with the Federal and NDP politicians promises to spend billions more on adding more public servants?

HST yes, no, yes. Thanks!
The Liberals decision to lift the NDP policy of attacking large corporations as rich or evil is going to alienate many fiscal-blue Liberals. Dion in his coalition accord in 2008 forced Layton to concede to his platform for a lower corporate tax climate to spur the economy. Ignatieff has tacked farther left than Dion in an attempt to supress the NDP vote in 2011. I think it is another tactical mistake to peel off the NDP base when your trust and leadership numbers are much lower.

There’s also global competition at play. Companies make decisions on where to invest, based on many factors. Even after the Jan 1 business tax cut, the combined federal and provincial rate is still above the OECD average, but below the G-7.  Canada won’t “fall off a cliff,” but it clearly sends the wrong message to companies and the rest of the world, argued Ian Lee, MBA director at Carleton University’s business school.-Liberal math does not add up

Mayor Rob Ford has been handed a new gift this week.
When the sun shone on the list of the top City of Toronto bureaucrats who raked in more than $100,000 last year, not surprisingly, an extra 65 employees were added in 2010.Toronto had 2,136 employees on the 100K club, up from 2,071 the previous year. The combined salaries of the more than 2,100 employees total more than $250 million. -City's 100K club grows to 2,136. Ontario fares worse! Will taxpayers be going to polls looking to punish the Liberals and the NDP who advocate in not cutting or reducing government?

The big earners on Sunshine List
• $1,325,119 — Ontario Power Generation president/CEO Tom Mitchell.
• $1,041,881 — University of Waterloo president/CEO David Johnston.
• $953,844 — Hydro One president/CEO Laura Formusa.
• $732,615 (plus $100,934 in taxable benefits) — St. Joseph’s Hospital in London president/CEO Clifford Nordal.
• $453,164 — Ontario Realty Corp. president/CEO David Glass.
• $431,403 — LCBO CEO Robert Peter.

Ontario set punish the Liberals
The following seat projection is based upon a weighted blending of polls from Nanos, Harris-Decima, Abacus and Forum Research that were drawn from March 24-29. The overall sample was approximately 6000. While the national total of seats allocated drops the Conservatives down below the magic number of 155, the real story of the past seven weeks is how stable public opinion and the polls have actually been. Throughout the last five LISPOP projections during this period, the Conservative number has varied only between 150 and 157 seats, and it is now in the middle of that range.  By contrast, Ontario with a large number of swing seats hardly changed at all with the Conservatives maintaining a 10% lead over the Liberals.- LISPOP

King’s success has been ascribed by his critics to his uncanny talent for blurring political issues so as to maintain support among such ideologically opposed groups as farmers in the West, who demanded free trade, and manufacturers in central Canada, who demanded tariff protection. His genius for obfuscation was epitomized by his vacuous but successful 1935 campaign slogan, “King or Chaos.”  -Stephen Clarkson, THE BIG RED MACHINE How the Liberal Party Dominates Canadian Politics

The Liberal party has not come to understand how they come to hold seventy seven seats in 2011. They like to believe the leader was at fault and Canadians were duped with some bad press coverage. Much like the hype around the impact of social media on the political discussion on Twitter is still taking place within an echo chamber. Canadians will cast a their ballot in the fourth contest in seven years. It is very likely at least three opposition leaders will be retiring after the results are digested on May 2, 2011.

What do you think?

Conservative Majority: Taxpayers Message

[1] Ekos Politics October 15, 2009 Tories Consolidate Lead http://www.ekospolitics.ca/

Angus Reid Strategies provided another marker that reinforced the Ekos Politics snapshot leading up to the rout of the Liberals in the four by elections a few weeks later. Angus was the most accurate pollster in predicting the results in the 40th general election.
Angus snapshot pointed to the fact 40 per of decided voters would cast a ballot for a Conservative candidate in their riding if a federal election took place today. The Liberals placed a distant second at 26 per cent.
On the Economy and trust the Liberals did not make the case for replacing the incumbent in 2009. Half of Canadians (50%) are satisfied with the reaction of the federal government to the economic crisis. Forty-four per cent either completely or moderately trust the PM Stephen Harper to do the right thing to help the economy recover.
Only 25% feel the same way about the Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff. This is the second time the Conservatives hit the forty per cent threshold as the Liberals beat the election drums with the incredulous statement of Harper, your time is up threat

Are seventy-six questions on the Afghanistan prisoner treatment-transfer more pressing the our Economy and Jobs in December 2009?

A committee on the Afghanistan mission was hi-jacked to provide an opportunity for partisan positioning over the handling of captured prisoners. How many Canadians were being asked to subscribe without proof our government, civil servants, military were covering up war crimes?

Fast forward to another four by elections in 2010 did the Liberals or the left take any lessons from their failures in 2009? The Conservatives picked up another two seats including a long held Liberal riding just north of Toronto. The full court press failed and taxpayers rejected the Liberal brand.

Fantino, Taxpayers reject Liberals for Conservatives
Fantino is the celebrity choice. Many voters told the Star they feel comfortable with his name recognition, a plus for federal Conservatives, who could strip away this longtime Liberal riding and advance their march to the glittering Grit prize of Toronto.- Linda Diebel Toronto Star

We are now day four in a thirty-six day campaign with the opposition promising to spend more taxpayers money as if it will be a free lunch. Taxpayers have been firing the tax and spend Liberals in Europe, the United States, New Brunswick and most recently in Toronto with the election of Rob Ford as Mayor.

2011 Taxpayers Crush Liberal tax and spend brand
Kelly McParland wit on display:

For Toronto’s urban sophisticates, it was a wipe-out. Total repudiation. Worse than the time they ran out of well-oaked chardonnay at Vintages. What are they supposed to do now, move to Calgary? Buy a leaf blower, for Chrissake? Any day now they’ll be erecting barriers at Pusateri’s, checking IDs. No one gets in without a credit card from Home Depot.
Wearily they munched their almond biscottis and totted up the devastation. Someone would have to contact the holistic, non-profit communal bike-sharing project and warn them the grand opening, scheduled for January, would be delayed.- National Post
His message was widely panned by the traditional media outlets and the taxpayers ended the debate with eight minutes after the ballots were counted. Are the media outlets based in Toronto and Ottawa out of touch with the taxpayers? We already can see the opposition politicans are for returning to the polls for a fourth time in seven years. Why are the Liberals still not listening to the taxpayer?

Taxpayers across Canada are going to show up will Ignatieff's seat be in play?

Federal Politics: Ignatieff Biggest Loser in 2010?

West Montreal consists of three ridings: Liberals are upset Larry Smith is running
I am puzzled lately by Liberal-left decision to repeat the same tactics that have proven to unsuccessful since 2004. We have seen these personal attacks on Rob Ford, Nigel Wright, Julian Fantino and Larry Smith become an obsession by the media and the left.
Pundits Guide Lac-Saint-Louis safe Liberal seat
For the most part, Torontonians recognized one thing about their city after two terms of David Miller: Taxes had gone up but services had not increased or improved.
Just as Toronto’s mayoral candidates left voters lukewarm by talking about how to spend taxpayer’s money, the federal Liberals find themselves discussing spending rather than the Harper government’s failed fiscal performance. Worse, the Liberals are doing so when Canadians believe there is little federal money for jobs and pensions, and that programs like health care may soon be under siege. And it never helps to embolden Conservatives to label you “tax and spend” Liberals in a tough economy.-Ian Davey

Rob Ford was not consumed with attacking the policies of his opponents. and giving them  a spotlight. He was going to improve customer service at City Hall and reduce the burden on the taxpayer. Rob has been successful because voters had faith in his platform.

Liberals are consumed with personal attacks and their platform remains hidden. Many of these successful people bring a wide set of skills, experience that is reflected in their participation in the private sector, municipal politics, law enforcement, public service, professional sport and philanthropic activity. It appears the Liberals have a problem with people wanting to join the other parties.

Ignatieff prior to leaving for his European vacation has announced again they will not be supporting the budget unless it scrap the military purchase of nine billion for sixty-five jets. The costs are not finalized, delivery is not expected until 2016. Liberals now find themselves under siege from Conservative, NDP, Bloc, Green parties and voters.

It appears Ignatieff is going to ask the NDP or Bloc to support the Conservatives when they return with a new budget. The Liberals did this in September 2009 and spent all of 2010 trying to apologize for having presented little as credible alternative. Is this latest stunt an attempt to keep his job as leader or deflect attention to the fourth quarter fundraising numbers?

Susan Riley does not like Stephen Harper?

Does Susan Riley A walk in the snow, anyone?  create a well meaning puff pastry article in attempt to give rise to the flaccid state of the Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff? She starts off by acknowledging the demoralized state of affairs within the Liberal party.
  •  A leader is not required to have a talent in singing.
  • 46% of Liberals, 56% voters think a new leader is needed (Angus Poll here)
  • Afghanistan extension wrong decision because Conservatives support it (Obama, NATO, UN should be ignored on this file)
  • Attempting to recruiting Fantino was dumb.
Susan recognizes the Liberals do not have an unblemished alternative if a spring election is called. A quick change in leadership won't likely change the short term outcome. In a funny that's strange  diagnosis Susan  applies  the label pernicious anemia as the malady afflicting the Liberal-left coalition.
Pernicious anemia presents insidiously, and many of the signs and symptoms are due to anemia itself, where anemia is present. The patient may complain of fatigue, depression, forgetfulness, difficulty concentrating,.. the patient may also complain of weakness and clumsiness.-Wiki
In the middle she goes on and adds further proof the moderates, right of centre voters have turned away from the parties of "social justice", wealth redistribution. No kidding anyone remember those mid terms in the US?

What Ignatieff lacks is what Rob Ford, the unpolished new mayor of Toronto, has in abundance: consistency and conviction.Governing well requires flexibility, emotional intelligence and experience. But to win an election you need to keep it simple and keep it real. Voters have a nose for authenticity -- and its absence.-Susan Riley
Susan praises the resume of Ignatieff but not his decision to support the policies of the Conservatives in this minority parliament. She praises Ignatieff on several of the issues that are not resonating with the public. (Susan you noted out of touch in the Angus poll earlier remember?)
  • CF18 replacement with F35's (supported in Parliament 170 votes)
  • Long gun registry (Whipped vote by opposition MPs on private members bill?)
  • Home care blocking anti smuggling bill as "clumsy"
Susan is not impressed with his position on the Alberta Oil Sands believing he is inconsistent with joining the mustache friendly leader of the NDP in banning tanker traffic and championing Alberta. (Susan we agree Ignatieff is NOT credible and Canadians can see it a mile away)
"Leaderitis is really eroding democracy," she says, adding that political parties are composed of more than one person. "I'm fed up with the constant search for a Messiah. - Dr. Carolyn Bennett
Carolyn is a Liberal MP for the riding of St. Paul, Toronto. She had to apologize a misunderstanding of a ten per center sent attacking the Conservatives for handling of H1N1. Is it ironic Susan not qualified uses a medical condition and a trained medical doctor invokes a leadership trait?
It is amusing Susan is oblivious of the work and money spent on the environmental files since a change of government. I imagine the hundreds of projects in providing safe clean drinking water to  cities, aboriginals, expanding the parks may not be "real" enough for a columnist based in Ottawa. In Oakville I am aware of a large project compliments of the Economic Action Plan here. Maybe closer to home in Ottawa Susan missed this one.
“The Government of Canada recognizes the importance of safe, clean, and trustworthy waste-water systems,” said John Baird, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Member of Parliament for Ottawa West – Nepean. “Using advanced technology, as well as planning and monitoring capabilities, the City will be well equipped to protect the Ottawa River from sewer overflow for years to come.”
“The McGuinty Government is proud to be a partner in helping clean up the Ottawa River, contributing to better water quality and preventing future sewer overflow, making it safer for those Ontarians living near the historic waterway,” said Phil McNeely, Member of Provincial Parliament for Ottawa-Orleans.
"Working in cooperation with our federal and provincial partners, the City is making real progress, significantly reducing overflows into the Ottawa River,” said Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson. “There is a plan in place to eliminate all overflows. This is a priority that is supported by our City Council and our communities.” -Economic Action Plan on Environment
Green Energy Club is more polished?
Susan may want to read her own paper, try Google it took me less than a minute to find projects in excess of $100 million is 0.15 seconds on what party promised what during the last general election. Here is a link to the list of promises in the platform on the environment. The Conservative Party of Canada is getting it done in the Environment and some NGO's and despots in the third world don't like having funds being held accountable for their real action on emissions.

Environmental Promises: Conservative Party of Canada October 8, 2008 in Ottawa Sun.

Environment

• Cut the federal excise tax on diesel fuel in half, from four to two cents per litre
• Invest $113 million into an Environmental Enforcement Action Plan over the next five years — and an additional $25 million for:
• stiffer penalties for the most serious environmental crimes: up to $6  million for corporations and $1 million for individuals;
• increases in inspection and seizure powers;
• a team of specialized environmental prosecutors;
• creation of environmental laws that allow courts to compel offenders to remedy any harm to the environment; • a searchable database that tells the public the details of a corporation’s convictions for environmental crimes.
• Require corporations convicted of environmental crimes to notify their shareholders of their conviction and punishment.
• Prohibit the exportation of bitumen to countries outside Canada that do not have equivalent emission-reduction targets.
• Re-affirm Canada’s position that the North American Free Trade Agreement cannot require Canada to export bulk water to other NAFTA countries.
• Continue to promote the development of northern pipelines to bring oil and gas to markets in Canada and throughout the world.
• A regulatory framework that will impose mandatory emissions reduction targets on Canadian industry and reduce Canada's greenhouse gas emissions by an absolute 20 per cent by 2020.
• A $2-billion ecoENERGY initiative to promote smarter energy use, greater use of clean energy sources, and cleaner use of traditional energy sources.
• Protection of numerous conservation areas, including the world’s largest freshwater protection area.

It is a pity Susan decided to submit a puff pastry piece that many Canadians will ignore is worthy of reading. It would have been more informative  to provide a grade on their campaign promises. Did the Conservative Party of Canada deliver? Susan, the Canadian public and voters would be better served if you and your newspaper provided actual insight if the Conservatives were consistent in their convictions.  The readers and viewers of mainstream media are fed up with partisan cheer leading masquerading as journalism. Canadians are tuning out  in larger numbers from politics and the stories on the Hill are not relevant in my opinion. Look for waste and real corruption in our politics. This is not a search for Canadian Idol and what leader has the most polish. Perhaps Susan can follow her own advice for Ignatieff about being real and relevant.

Order book here
I have included a link to puff pastry recipes here. It may be as helpful in evaluating campaign promises as her piece  on the demoralized state of affairs within the liberal-left coalition. I enjoy light and fluffy, but if you want some easy Italian recipes  with substance I included a book from Chef Mario Batali. His homepage is here.

Socialism is Dying in North America?

Iran @ UN
It is easy to see why Socialism-Liberalism is retreating as a credible ideology in the Western Democracies. As an example I will  cite a few examples of the rhetoric from political left in Canada and the United States to highlight why those messages have lost support.

The voices in left ignore Iran for criticism of Israel?
In good economic times, Westerners have been able to accept the redistribution of wealth policies as advocated by the political left as sustainable and effective policies. The gravy train has come off the tracks during the global economic recession in Canada and the United States. The left is unprepared to share the consequence caused by the growth of the entitlement culture in policies and programs.

The left need to stop attacking the most productive members of society to shelter the unlucky. We are not all equal in capacity, skill or luck. We don't award everyone a Gold medal for participating in the Olympics. We can't all be winners.

Canadians are in a stressful time want less talking and more action. The political left are not equipped to take decisive action because they are trapped in a failed ideology that history has refuted in every instance. We don't have a socialist Utopia on earth. The left can not effectively regulate or eliminate greed without disastrous consequences to the population. Robin Hood is not a hero to build a prosperous society.

Canadians have been blessed with natural resources and history with very little bloodshed. Canada is a relatively young country with many advantages including our proximity to the largest economy in the world. A few weeks ago our Canadian government fell short in winning a seat on the security council.

The political left felt the failure to win the coveted seat in the UN was a testament to our failure in "social justice" in Africa and being an "honest broker" in the Middle East. Has the political left in Western democracies become so corrupted they have lost any perspective of thugs in the United Nations? The costs for the entitlement programs on working families through taxation? Does the left believe we are equal to many of the UN voting members in advancing the most basic human rights? The voices in political left condemn us for not being engaged on the  international stage and than follow up with a refusal to support the United Nations sanctioned mission in Afghanistan. Do the voices in the left fail to see their hypocrisy?
  • Religious freedom to believe and not believe
  • Gender equality
  • Freedom of the press/assembly/expression
  • Rule of Law
A large number of countries in the United Nations are corrupt and do not afford the most basic human rights to their citizens. Many of the left of centre pundits regularly give a free pass to these voting member states as they sit in judgment on our Government. Does this make sense to any rational person?

We have problems with equality and rule of law regarding our reserves and the political left have been  largely silent. A favoured solution from the left is to throw more money without holding those accountable. The political left insinuate we are guilty-responsible for the problems in the aboriginal community. The voices in the political left demand we continue to increase the transfer of billions of dollars for the injustice. The loudest voices in the left don't have practical solutions to offer for eliminating the systemic problems on the reserves. It is called accountability.

In the United States many southern states are having a difficult time with the influx of illegal aliens and the lack of effective border enforcement. The local  state governments have been under financial strain in policing, health, education in dealing with this problem for generations. A large number of citizens have voted locally and supported a tougher stance and enforcement of the existing laws. The National Government in Washington is unwilling or unable to address the problems and economic social breakdown in the southern states. In many cases they feel abandoned by the Federal government.

Political correctness only hurts the debate of ideas. The left are terrified of the ethnic vote if they enforce the laws regarding the border and immigration. Accountability is not an ideology. You can't choose to selectively apply it when it suits your political interests. This is why the voices in left are finding their voice fading in North America. The New Brunswick provincial sweep, Rob Ford in Toronto to mid-terms in the United States are not isolated cases of the left being dumped for conservative principles or values. Voters recognize they can't afford the socialist-Liberal culture of entitlement. It is time to change course.

People can't pay the mortgage with hope and feed their children with change. We need government to get out of the way because Robin Hood is not a hero. The left have a great deal to fear in the upcoming elections in Canada and the United States.

Layton 5% Rebate: Christmas Bonus

Jack Layton... Ac-tor!

The NDP may have recently stumbled on the winds of change:
  • Toronto (Mayor Elect Rob Ford)
  • realized taxing the rich is counter-productive
  • a populist move to remove the consumption tax on heating your home.
Jack should consult others on economic policy.
Then as now, there were people who failed to make the distinction between tax rates and tax revenues. Mellon said, "It seems difficult for some to understand that high rates of taxation do not necessarily mean large revenue for the Government, and that more revenue may often be obtained by lower rates."-Andrew Mellon
John Maynard Keynes pointed out in 1933 that lowering the tax rates can increase tax revenues, if the tax rates are so high as to discourage economic activity.
President John F. Kennedy made the same argument in the 1960s -- and tax revenues increased after the tax rates were cut during his administration. The same thing happened under Ronald Reagan during the 1980s. And it happened again under George W. Bush, whose tax rate cuts are scheduled to expire next January.
Just in time for a Christmas this policy announcement is a bonus for the wealthy and energy companies.
Jack Layton is showing practical leadership to make your life more affordable. (1)
Starting with a plan to lower the cost of essential home heating:
    * Drop the 5% federal sales tax on your home heating.
    * Re-introduce the popular ecoEnergy retrofit program – so you can afford to make your home more energy efficient.
    * End the subsidies to the very big polluters that are gouging you on your home heat bill. (2)
This is a practical first step to ending the affordability crisis.(3)
Rhetoric vs Reality
The Federal Government has earned a B+ from the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance 2009 Report. Details on Page 3.  Those directly affected in the trade involved in the audits and retrofits are unhappy as this subsidy is not continued beyond 2011. Subsidies still exist from cities and provinces for retro-fits.

Prime Minister Harper addresses the Canada-U.K. Chamber of Commerce in London

29 May 2008
London
First, last year we began removing the special tax incentives brought in by our predecessors that actually encouraged and subsidized the growth of the traditional oil sands industry.  We are phasing those out and replacing them with incentives for the deployment of green technology only. (2)
Canada’s economic resilience is partly due to our important moves in the area of taxation. (1) We are lowering taxes of all kinds: personal, family, consumption and business.  Under measures introduced last fall, the tax burden at the federal level in Canada will fall in the next few years to its lowest level since the early 1960s.  In fact, the combined federal and provincial rate of corporate taxation will be the lowest in the G7 by 2012 and we are on track to have the lowest tax rate on new business investment in the G7 by 2010, so there is no doubt that these are good times for Canada.
Rest here.
Save the planet or save my party Jack invokes populism of freezing homeowners, seniors on fixed pensions while ignoring the provinces and  cities have authority to limit the double digit increases in the rates of energy this winter.
The math shows that the least likely to benefit are the poor or working class as their small volume in consumption will result in the smallest tax break. The NDP seems to have forgotten their argument against the GST reduction of two points on all purchases: the most wealthy would benefit the most from a reduction in the federal taxes on energy for households.(3)
Large homeowners benefit most with NDP tax break 5%
The wealthy homeowner, landlords and businesses that use higher volume of  energy to heat their homes will save the most money this winter with the populist policy of the NDP.
Jack your fetish for the unsustainable Green Economy is blind to damage on taxpayers in Europe who have seen their job losses and energy rates double.
What do you think?

Julian Fantino: Vaughan Star Candidate

The Liberals in Toronto are in a panic with support of Rob Ford and now prospect of fighting against Julian Fantino for the vacated seat by Maurizio Bevilacqua on behalf of the Liberals since 1988.(York North 1988-1997, York-Vaughan King Aurora 1997-2004, Vaughan 2004-Present)
Judy Sgro participates in procession on Good Friday, 2002 with Toronto Chief of Police Julian Fantino, RCMP Ben Soave and Tony Ianno, MP.
The Prime Minister will be in Vaughan, ON next Friday to introduce former OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino as his by-election candidate, the Italian-Canadian newspaper in Toronto, Corriere Canadese, is reporting today, while the Liberals have already approached and been turned down by a series of potential candidates.
According to the story penned by editor Angelo Persichilli in Italian (and translated here), Fantino has not been specifically promised any position in cabinet, but had a personal meeting with Prime Minister Harper in the Langevin Building in Ottawa this past September 27, and is expected by party insiders to be "part of the [government's] inner circle" on taking office.- Pundits Guide

Heavy Hitters: Mississauga East Cooksville In Play?

Pundits' Guide 1997- 2008 General Election
Veteran Mississauga East-Cooksville MP Albina Guarnieri says she will retire from federal politics. Are we going to have Canadians choose a Conservative majority in 2010 or 2011 to sweep back the Liberal-Democrat-Separatist coalition threat? The candidate for the Conservatives in Mississauga East-Cooksville may have a very large gap to shrink before adding the seat to the Conservative Party but that has not made the effort worth it.It is time to take Canada back from the social engineers and their failed dogma about of lifting all boats.

"..there could also be a big political payoff in several ridings in Mississauga and the GTA when South Asian Canadians go to the polls in several ridings in Mississauga and the GTA in the next federal election..."
2008 General Election Mississauga East Cooksville Walter Miller Maps
Mississauga has grown by 9.1% from 2001 to 2006. A portrait is here. Home ownership is 75% with marriage at 56%. Immigrants made up over 51% of the population with English language spoken at 48%.

Pundits Guide 2000-2008
Are we witnessing the same push back against the culture of entitlement from Liberals in Europe, Australia and United States? Liberals use code words, phrases for socialism. (Social justice, the growing gap between poor and rich).
The tide has been changing for Liberals in Ontario since their last majority in 2000. Many of the hired strategists are stuck in 90's playing the culture war with a complicit media. The propagandists in the left are playing wedge politics, framing opponents to Socialist- Liberalism ideology as stupid radical right wingers who are responsible  for transforming Canada into an unrecognizable state. A former Liberal Deputy Premier, Toronto Mayoralty candidate referred to supporters of Rob Ford as chubby chasers.

If you don't support the growing nanny state or reduction of personal property rights you are threat to the culture of entitlement. This Prime Minister has worked tirelessly along with Jason Kenney in getting results and delivering their message out to ethnic communities. The mainstream media is not interested in going beyond the rhetoric of opposition war rooms framing the Conservative Party of Canada. This is why we are tuning them out in larger numbers, they won't speak the truth.
November 15, 2009 - Wladyslaw Lizon

Lizon, a Polish immigrant, said his native country and Canada share "fundamental values" in human rights, the rule of law and democracy. He left the United States after ten years and joined us in Canada to make a better life for his family. His story is an example of success and hard work.

"Our two countries are experiencing unprecedented levels of co-operation which is leading to mutual benefit," he said after accompanying Prime Minister Stephen Harper on a trip to Poland last year. Canada's lifting of the visa requirement (on Polish nationals) and Poland's increased commitment to the NATO lead mission in Afghanistan are just two examples of such co-operation."
Lizon has been the national president of the Canadian Polish Congress for two years. He holds a degree in mining engineering and worked in the mining industry in Poland for six years.
Liberal Attack Ad: Ashamed of Canada?
Opposition MPs attacked our efforts in Afghanistan, undermining our efforts and repeatedly suggested our military may have been complicit of torture, war crimes without offering any evidence.

Is  Lizon the candidate for the Conservatives a threat to Canada or are we going to witness an increase of  wedge politics from Liberals as they fade away and join other obsolete parties in the dustbin of history in 2010-2011?
