NDP Fails To Protect Taxpayers

Smart Grid, Windmills, Taxes

Unintended consequences of big urban agenda...

NDP pushes plan for direct funding of municipal transit through more federal gas tax transfers. Is Jack running for Mayor of Toronto or just playing divisive politics as usual in pandering for support to his base in  large cities?

Jack what happens when your raise taxes on companies that have a near monopoly? Does Jack think raising taxes on banks, media, oil companies won't be passed along to the customer?

In Oakville I am told the no plastic bag policy passed by the City Toronto has been adopted by large stores outside its jurisdiction. Some of these stores have decided to make money by charging five cents per bag. Thanks Jack!

In Quebec, the province passed legislation requiring "winter tires" in Ontario we benefited through a spike in prices and thefts of tires.

"There is a chronic financing problem for public transit," Layton said.
"One of the key reasons for this is that Canada is the only developed country in the world that doesn't have a national public transit financing program of any kind."

Where does imagine this $400-500 million per year for Canadian transit systems comes from? (Big Banks, Big Oil, Big Bad Companies?)

Jack you spent a great deal of time lambasting the Liberals for not supporting the coalition in 2009. You admitted in December 2008  under your direction the NDP refused to read the budget or support ANY measure within the largest budget in Canadian history. Thanks Jack!

Only when the Liberals pulled the pin of stupid political stunts ,you softened your political rhetoric in parliament. The public polls illustrating overwhelming support against a Fall 2009 election or the projections showing many of the seats you gained would have been lost had no bearing in your decision to support the CPC government. On December 10, 2008 along with the Liberals you have voted to extend confidence of our PM in leading Canada.

Did you not spend months attacking the CPC and the Liberals for "raising" taxes via HST?

What has changed in your priorities over the Christmas Break that would risk an election if the CPC don't add billions to the deficit to fund mass transit projects for Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax?

We have seen Liberals spend months flip flopping on supporting, raising the H.S.T, G.S.T. The Liberals  through a proxy funded by Bay Street banking millionaires have proposed a Carbon Tax at COP15.

Jack if you support raising the GST, Tobin Tax, Gas Transfer Tax who do you expect to bear the brunt?

Unintended consequences continued....

The T.D. bank executive in Florida, the large companies like General Motors or the senior on a fixed pension trying to pay her heating bills in Northern Ontario?

Are the NDP for Carbon Credits for Big Companies and exemption for Fossil Fuel Companies that have large unions? Look at Germany they exempted their auto industry, or the US who will protect their Coal burning industry.

Jack are you for secret deals worth Billions that will drive up the hydro rates for those seniors who you spoke about regarding the HST and heating oil?

A similar transit policy was instituted by the Liberal government of Prime Minister Paul Martin, but was discontinued under the Conservatives who permanently extended $2 billion a year in gas-tax money to municipalities, but for a wider range of infrastructure needs.

Pandering to tax funded unions, urban voters and their unintened consequences...

Jack do you have a problem with how duly elected officials in cities prioritize their own spending? Perhaps leaving national politics for a run in provincial or muncipal affairs would resolve those priorities for MASS funded public transit in the large urban centres.Best of luck in Toronto.
Some of us are voting for a Federal Parliament to focus on their responsibilities, eliminate wasteful spending, encourage more local accountability by reducing Big Government (Ottawa knows best) practices. Thanks Jack!

Taxes are the reason why I'm designing my 10-year business plan
to set-up Production outside of Ontario or even outside of Canada.
I will not enjoy laying off workers just 4 years into production because Politicians expect to rape my profits via Taxes to fund their Campaign promises for a Socialism style State.
It's bad enough I came across layers upon layers of paper work
when dealing with all 3 levels of Government, but the ECO-Accessment rules takes years to complete and I need a Federal and Provincial report as well.
For now I have found 3 areas to build my products which are Lower Alberta zone near the US border , semi-idle factory in Ohio, and the Texas Gulf area with about 13 Ports where at least 9 of them have all 3 means to ship by Boat/Rail/Trucking .
The USA production will be in depressed areas that are starving for new Businesses to set-up shop and employ locals, and since I solved some shipping and Labour costs by around 30% it means i can keep a good salary job inside the USA or canada while offering a nice profit margin to retailers or investors.

It's not my job to bail out Election promises made by back-stabbing weasels who lied their guts out or sheeled out Million to Public Unions to get a Block of Votes.
Sorry Dalton and Miller , you made the promises....so you keep them with YOUR money ,not MINE or my workers money.

Anon,

I have no difficulty in any political party wanting to foist their agenda. I only want them to be consistent with their rhetoric.

Jack claims to be a defender of the low and middle class but his alliance with the Liberals on Big tax increases on the use of energy will hurt those who have little capacity to pay or adjust their lifestyle.

Dalton has signed onto a secret deal worth billions that will see our rates jump.

Countries that have already invested heavily into the Green story have NOT seen a return on their investment. In fact an examination of Norwegians paying 25% more for hydro with their "smart" grids.
Large companies will pass along their energy costs to us and will be hit at home as well on our own bills. (That we can not pass down)

Then there is the irony of the BC NDP coming out so hard against the carbon tax and HST. The party that loves taxes flips sides when the tax is unpopular. When you read the NDP policy platform (which I have) they are completely self-contradictory. They want to shut down oil sands production (which would cause a supply shock) but then they want to cap prices at the pump. Right Jack, let's reduce supply, and then cap the price at the consumer level. Remember Jimmy Carter?

If Jack wants to be useful here is something he can do: find somebody else to run for mayor since the liberals cut Giambrone's throat. If they don't run somebody there that is competitive then Boy George Smitherman will win hands down. (real conservative)

Iceman,

One problem with slapping a small tax on fossil fuel is that is does NOT change the behaviour of those you are targeting (masses).

The snowball on adding costs to transportation of goods or services will directly put Canada at a disadvantage as we are an export nation with a vast geography.

Another reason why it is FOOLISH for the coalition parties to demand we hurt our competitiveness while China, India, US etc refuse adopt Kyoto or COP15 tax.
